Addition to this Article[edit]

I've prepared a short addition to this article to include information about James Carafano's recent work on a documentary about U.S. military veterans. I'm an employee of The Heritage Foundation, where James Carafano is a senior research fellow, and have also used a source published by The Heritage Foundation on this documentary. Given my connections to the subject of this article, I'd like to have another editor review my suggestion and make the addition if it looks ok. Below is what I have prepared, which I would suggest adding to the end of the Heritage Foundation section.

In 2013, Carafano co-produced a short documentary, Veteran Nation, about the experiences of veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The film was created in partnership with ColdWater Media and Esprit de Corps and screened at The Heritage Foundation in February 2013. Carafano created the film after hearing about organizations that help veterans with the goal of inspiring more Americans to support U.S. veterans.^[1]^[2]

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the sourcing on this one. The first source is the Heritage Foundation blog. Blogs are generally not considered reliable sources, and since this is not independent of the subject, I'd say this is one of those cases. The second is I think a conservative-leaning blog, one I've never heard of. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:18, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zigzig20s and Muboshgu, thanks for reviewing my suggestion. Would the following source be ok to use instead of the ones above? The GI Film Festival article on Veteran Nation explains the origins of the documentary and Carafano's involvement but the wording above would need to be changed to remove details about ColdWater Media, Espirit de Corps and the Heritage screening in February. Thanks Zigzig20s! Actually, I'd prefer not to edit the article because of my conflict of interest. If you did want to split up the citations, the first two can be used to support the second sentence, and the last one can be used to support the first and third sentences. Thanks! This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. It's not clear what changes you want made to the article. COI edit requests should include complete and specific descriptions of the request, that is, specify what text should be removed and a verbatim copy of the text that should replace it. "Please change X" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "Please change X to Y", while making sure to include references for all changes you wish to be made.

James Jay Carafano (born May 8, 1955) is the vice president of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation. Carafano has authored a number of books, including Private Sector/Public Wars: Contracting in Combat-Iraq, Afghanistan and Future Conflicts,[1] and he has appeared before congress as a national security expert.[2] He is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and Hillsdale College. Heritage Foundation After serving as a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, a Washington institute dedicated to defense issues, Carafano joined the Heritage Foundation in 2003 as a senior research fellow. Carafano currently serves as the vice president of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy. In 2005, Carafano was honored with the W. Glenn and Rita Ricardo Campbell Award, The Heritage Foundation's honor for outstanding contributions to policy analysis.[7] I work at The Heritage Foundation and would appreciate if another editor could make the edit for me to avoid any potential conflicts of interest.
