Is James Newton any relation to Ron and Bryce Dallas (who I know are father/daughter)? —Ryan McDaniel 02:37, 23 July 2006 (UTC) (edited with links 02:42, 23 July 2006 (UTC))
I think if James Newton Howard was related to Ron Howard, he would feature as the OST composer for a lot more of those films than he currently does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 22.214.171.124 (talk) 19:09, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
James Newton Howard's father changed the name to Howard before James was born. Ron Howard's father changed the name to Howard before Ron was born (Rance Howard). So, nope, neither is related to anyone else named Howard, throughout their paternal lines, at least. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 07:12, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
JNH came through Media ventures at one point, or had studios at Zimmer's offices for a time. He is always listed as one of the composers who came through Hans' camp early on, but that isn't mentioned here, only his more recent collaborations with Zimmer on Batman movies. This is an interesting and pertinent aspect of his early career, and I think it should be researched and added to the article.
