Citation Issues[edit]

Wikipedia articles should reference neutral, reliable sources, and unfortunately this article on Japan Society features mainly information from the organization's official site. The lead appears to be a paraphrasing of Japan Society's "About" page, however, there are no citations except for sources naming the building a landmark. Also, the organization's mission statement is written verbatim in its own section, but this can most likely be briefly mentioned in the article's lead with either paraphrasing or a short excerpt. Suggestions[edit]

Since there is currently only information from the official website, I hope to learn more about the history of the organization and Japan House. Japan Society was founded in 1907, but the building was not opened until 1971. There is a lot of information that can be added to this page about the years before the opening. I have listed a few sources I will be pulling information from in the coming weeks: - Several New York Times articles feature information on the opening of Japan House, including quotes from prominent Japanese figures[1][2][3]. - "Cultural Policy and Private Initiative: The Performing Arts at The Japan Society, New York" by Barbara E. Thornbury is from a peer-reviewed music journal and mentions information on the history of the organization. - "Pacific partnership: United States-Japan trade; prospects and recommendations for the seventies." by Jerome Bernard Cohen, which appears to have been written specifically for the organization in 1915.David.centeno (talk) 00:41, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
