[edit] First header
Fg2, I admire your determination in creating this categorized page, but it is important to properly understand the circumstances before rashly enforcing a course of action that will not bear any benefit. First of all, with this page's growth, the demand for co-related references to justify the information told will become an immediate necessity, which of course presents a detriment that would have been largely unneeded if such information were left alone in the biographical article of its respective historical figure. Second: Wikipedia requires that only a minimum number of images are applied to a single article, which will subsequently result in the removal of the greater majority of the images I have taken the time to upload and distribute within the past. Third: If you realistically believe that each historical figure from Japanese history can have their respective cultural portrayal distributed to a single page, then you will need to re-evaluate the situation and see that it would be impossible and consistently open itself to unnecessary expansion and criticism. Fourth: The trivia represented within each historical figure's biographical article can co-exist with all other information stated, only that it is simply unfavored due to constituting variable lengths of original research and an uncecessary degree of references. With these four points of reasoning, there is obviously nothing to be gained by what you are doing, and I request that you comprehend such rational suggestions and forthwith cease from such an unforsightful means of action. - Hello Exiled Ambition, and thank you for the thoughtful comments. First, you're right to be concerned about citing sources. The material already had some references, but they didn't appear because I had not yet added the References section with the necessary template. Now that I've placed it in the article, the footnotes appear. Also note that the need for citations is the same whether the material is in this article or in the individual article on the historical person, so there's no need to discuss this further. Second, about minimizing images. I'm unaware of such a policy. However, you should note that this article contains exactly the kind of commentary on games and other works that justifies having an image. I created this article specifically to provide a place where the images support the text. This article is tailor-made for you to illustrate. Third, let's wait and see. Fourth, I disagree. Information on video games, such as the details of the power unleashed by someone's spear when a user adds an extra option, or breast size increases of women, is not about the historic person, and has no place in the article on the person. On the other hand, if that's what happens in the game, it is valid and useful information about the game, and belongs either in the article on the game (where I've repeatedly recommended placing it), or in an article like this one. For that reason, I will continue to organize the information on Wikipedia in the best way I know how. Best regards, Fg2 (talk) 21:04, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Well as long as it can be assured that each image will be able to retain their own respective existence on this page, then the project may be seen as worthwhile. But when ultimately looking at the circumstances, the degree of historical figures that would need their own representation would be quite high, and that in itself can easily constitute a growing degree of original research. If anything, just ensure that references are maximized. User:Exiled Ambition 1 May 2008 (EST)
[edit] New section
I too, admire Fg2 for creating this page, but it still lacks lots of information. Recently, i just added the Heian period section and i think i still needs more. For example, the Meiji era. OgasawaraSachiko (talk) 05:49, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Pop culture priority
There is no reason this list could qualify as a "high" priority for pop culture. This article is a "nice to have", not a "must have". Thus I have changed the priority to "low". Clerks. (talk) 17:24, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Saito Hajime Stance.JPG
The image Image:Saito Hajime Stance.JPG is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
