[edit] Acquiring a dual Nationality makes u a Descendant?

I did not know that. Not that I don't believe that he would be, but shouldn't that be sourced or referenced stating so. I'm referring to the category: Argentine of Spanish descent. I personally don't usually state a person's ancestry(descendants) unless there's secondary sources, disregarding having dual nationality especially Sports figures. I say this because many Sports figure get second nationality makes it easier for them to work abroad playing for that league/team. Example Tiago Splitter is Brazilian that got Spanish citizenship should he be categorize as a Brazilian of Spanish descent?

[edit]

Errmmm.. Maybe I'm just in a picky mood tonight, but should we include people like this? Potential to be the greatest ever... Let's see, they said that about a fella with the nickname of "The Throwin' Samoan" who was drafted by the NFL Cincinnati Bengals.. He was so great, I don't remember his actual name (I think he threw something like a dozen passes in his career). Fine, this guy actually has done something in his sport, but doesn't sound like he's an all time great... yet. Rgamble

[edit] In reply:

He has been the major star of the 2001 youth World Cup.

Comparing the NFL brand of football to football (em, soccer} might distort one's perspective when sizing up the stars.

[edit] Matches and Goals

User:24.23.228.38 erased important season information from the matches/goal table at the Javier Saviola article, arguing that my oppinion doesn't count on friendly matches. At the same time, he/she added a goal to the info-box from non-official matches, when the info-box clearly states "Professional club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only". Is not why I think, but the wikipedia's standard. I will restore the previous original. Please, discuss here if you have additional information on the subject. And from where exactly are you going to source only domestic league stats? Check pages for Zidane, Ronaldo and so on - they use statistics as reported by ESPN. When you reverted my changes, maybe you should have noticed that his River Plate stats are reported in entirity while his European stats are muddled. If he scored 44 goals in 101 games for Barca, did he score 14 more in just 4 games? I would rather see the right records then get stuck up on something you cant provide accurately (only domestic league records). Imagine not reporting a hatrick in a Champions League finals. Those are the most important goals in a player's career. Furthermore, the table is for "ALL-TIME" club appearances not for "domestic" appearances only. Also, note that wikipedia doesnt set any standards or templates for any article/topic. The only constant in wikipedia is accuracy. A player's performance for a club is judged not just on his "domestic" league stats. Btw, friendlies are not unofficial - they are recognized by FIFA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.53.0.252 (talk)

That's why the table has Domestic League, Domestic Cup and European Competition entries separated, with a total column. I don't know why you removed the domestic league values, since they can be obtained. You should have inserted the goals and matches for the other competitions separatelly, ot get the total you describe.
What's more, if the info box had all goals and matches, then the information would be duplicated. The info-box lists only domestic league goals, and if you don't agree with that, please discuss it at the template's talk page, not here.
If you really wish to contribute, find out the complete break out of the goals, excluding friendly matches. Mariano(t/c) 10:01, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

From where did you source the domestic league stats? They are wrong (especially on River Plate). ESPN provides accurate all time stats and that is the only source I trust.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.53.0.252 (talk)

Well, I took them from ESPN, except for River Plate. If you have a better source, please provide it. Mariano(t/c) 10:36, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Come one, man. I take the work on filling all the information from the different seasons and championships, and you start again with that friendly match? Please, see that the info-box is strictly for league matches. I added a comment on the friendly match and the goal into the text, and I trully hope you will be satisfied with it this time. How's that the information here and in this link differ so much?

http://saviola.freeservers.com/custom.html

if you dont count the 12 goals he did in argentinian sub 23 and sub 20 teams which I think it's right, it is still missing around 30 goals. I think from that list you can at least get the info on goals made in the domestic cup of France (5). Also some figures still dont match, and since there's a detail of each goal he did against each team, I think the figures could be improved
