Racially and culturally deprived[edit]

From the article:

The Foundation provided fellowships to the racially and culturally deprived.

Um, what does it mean to be "racially deprived"? I don't particularly like the sound of that- as though one has been deprived of a satisfactory race (and thus endowed with a disadvantaged race). Although some races tend to appear disproportionally among the disadvantaged, that doesn't make them racially deprived- only financially deprived. Might this better read "The Foundation provided fellowships to the disadvantaged."?? - Eric (talk) 21:33, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
