Untitled[edit]

This biog is totally screwed up. It mixes two different people, one a civil servant and the other an academic mathematician. they are different people. 80.169.162.100 (talk) 14:40, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, his grandfather was a coal miner, but what was his father?[edit]

It says in the article that John Kingman is the, "The grandson of a coal miner..." This is obviously included to give the impression that Kingman has come from the lower orders, and has had to fight his way to the top through pure genius and self will... and maybe he did.

It would be a whole lot more informative if the article included a bit more background information. What job did his father do (labourer or professional?).

I don't mean to question Kingman's achievements. He is obviously and intelligent individual, but the inclusion of the comment about his grandfather's lowly background while ignoring his more immediate ancestors could be a tad misleading. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.187.233.172 (talk) 12:38, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rothschild connections[edit]

Sir John has an interesting history. Conspiracy theorists who think the Rothschild family still have fingers in government pies may be interested in this... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1229958/Fury-credit-crunch-civil-servant-lands-Rothschild-job.html The revolving door! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.106.129.121 (talk) 07:58, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Second to last paragraph[edit]

This:

"Mr Kingman was a key member of the team that put in place the rescue of Northern Rock in 2007 and the banking bail-out of Lloyds Banking Group and Royal Bank of Scotland of 2008. He was seconded to become the first chief executive of UK Financial Investments. Before joining the Treasury as a Press secretary to then-Chancellor Gordon Brown, he worked as a columnist for the Financial Times were he met Robert Peston, now the BBC’s high-profile business correspondent. Some suspected Mr Kingman was the source for Peston’s many scoops on the banking crisis, beginning with the news of emergency loans to Northern Rock which prompted the catastrophic run on the mortgage bank. But during a High Court case brought by Northern Rock shareholders over the bank’s nationalisation Mr Kingman issued a statement denying any knowledge of who leaked the crucial news."

is not about Sir John and should be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.131.68.123 (talk) 22:52, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone who knows John Kingman will be surprised to read that his father was a coal miner. He was in fact a well-qualified chemist (See Who's Who). Presumably someone's idea of humour?
