Question[edit]

All I want to know is if the persons who killed Joy Adamson (authoress of "Born Free") were ever caught? I have just finished reading her last book "Queen of Shaba" wherein she was doing research on a leopard named Penny - which was never fully completed because of her death. (OhGodhowinthehelldoImailthisnow)???

According to http://www.vayulila.com/TheCave/Voice-Adamsons.html, "a 23 year old former employee Paul Ekai was convicted of the murder, apparently committed after a dispute over money." RickK 01:27, 23 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Apparently [1] since his updated story about the gun, he has recanted again: now he says he had nothing to do with her murder. I think he belongs in prison but it would better suit his hopes of release if he would stick to one story. --Discreetpiratepete (talk) 04:17, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Guardian interview[edit]

Ekai's prison interview claims of shooting joy in a gun battle should be given very little weight, seeing as his claims are totally unsupported by the evidence at the time; most notably the autopsy. Stab wounds might be confused for a lion attack, but gun wounds are unmistakable. My speculation is that he wants parole so he's invented a story to gain sympathy, (but that's just my opinion based on the circumstances). OzoneO 08:04, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding George Adamson[edit]

In particular this bit; "George Adamson was murdered nine years later, in 1989, near his camp in Kora, while rushing to the aid of a tourist who was being attacked by poachers. George is credited with saving her life, but his act of bravery cost him his life."

It serves no one to perpetuate untruths like those, no matter how heroic they sound. Here is an excerpt from a NY Times article that was published at the time.

"Mr. Adamson was on his way to pick up visitors at his dirt airstrip when his Land-Rover was attacked by gunfire from three bandits, said the director of the Kenyan Wildlife Department, Dr. Richard E. Leakey. He said he believed they were Somalis. Ethnic Somalis have been blamed for most robberies in remote areas of Kenya."[2]— Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)

Short sentences[edit]

These have really short sentences! Badly written...--122.57.99.153 (talk) 05:05, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This Article is Ridiculous[edit]

The tone of this whole piece is obscenely slanted - casting George as a hero when he was driving by, pointless paragraphs about the social climate of scientists in Kenya, and nonsense about their marriage? "she showed no such generosity with her husband George from whom she had separated." is such a loaded and offensive statement, I don't even know where to begin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.211.36.120 (talk) 11:48, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Acting career[edit]

I have removed two sentences crediting her with an acting career and with appearing on a radio panel show. This was her namesake actress Joy Adamson (1917-1987). See Imdb. Impregnable (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:12, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
