Juku problems POV?[edit]

I'm definitely not an expert on Japanese education, but this seems a little POV - "In many ways, juku compensate for the formal education system's inability or unwillingness to address particular individual problems." Anyone care to back that up? --Oshin 18:10, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wish I had some hard evidence to supply, but if it reassures you at all; the Japanese school system is severely standardized. Therefore, students that are ahead, or behind the curve are usually out of the focus of the school system. This is why many students attend juku to either get ahead, or catch up. -- Josh Ohm (dagger_jaydo@yahoo.com)

Yeah, problem is that the article only talks about the positive aspects of Juku with no criticism of any sort, making it rather unbalanced. Furthermore, the first sentence of the 2nd paragraph says that they have been criticised a lot during the 20th century but these complaints are never explained. This article still needs work on POV but what's there is fairly good, I think, it just needs more. --Hydraton31 00:34, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Non-academic Juku[edit]

Hi,

I know this probably isn't the place, but what is the word for "non-academic juku" in Japanese. I have been unable to find it.
