Town or Small City[edit]

With a population of nearly 100,000, I think it would be more appropriate to refer to K-town a small city instead of as a town... it's also considered a Stadt (City) by the German government. Kurt 00:24, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like you to add how much games of the World Cup are played in K-Town (5games).

I recently visited K-Town and agree that it is more of a city. Definitely not a town. Not a small place. Has everything anyone would want. Nice walking street downtown with nice restraunts, cafes, bakeries, shops, etc. We were there for their Halloween festivle, which is quite large and included a night parade. This was an event that could not be held in a mere town. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.116.212.23 (talk) 16:15, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Page arrangement[edit]

Is there a way to adjust the contents box to the left side, in the more normal layout, as opposed to the right shifted look, which i think si a result of the images? ThuranX 01:59, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how to do it right but I added some empty lines so that the table of contents is below the images. --FlorianK 15:18, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. that does restore a better layout. I'd have done it myself, but I'm still a kindergartener in the sandbox, so I'm just noodling and making suggestions till I get better.ThuranX 05:07, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Difficult pronounciation?[edit]

Is Kaiserslautern really that difficult to pronounce, particularly when compared to say, the surname of Michael Stich which is really difficult for a monolingual English speaker to get right? --Robert Merkel 03:40, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

K-town is just a nick name. Nick names are given for numerous reasons, commonly in response to a long proper name. I consider reason given in the article for the K-town nick name to be pure conjecture. Hence, I suggest the reason be removed. Also, I note that use of the nick name is not limited to Americans, and while it likely was created by an American, that is also not a verifiable fact. Kdz 05:52, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Now you have a non-native pronunciation as per a request over at my talkpage at Commons. Don't hesitate to replace it of you're a native German with decent recording equipment.

I have met quite a few people who have a hard time pronouncing the name correctly, so instead of pronouncing it incorrectly, K-Town is prefered as simply more convenient. Nobody would say R-town instead of Ramstein, since pronouncing Ramstein is easy. 62.143.13.199 22:54, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Town Hall Davenport, Iowa[edit]

In the article it says:

Town Hall Kaiserslautern is one of the tallest buildings and is located in the city's downtown district. It was designed after the city hall of Davenport, Iowa, one of Kaiserslautern's sister cities.

I found a picture of the Davenport City Hall and it looks nothing like the Rathaus (german for city hall) in Kaiserslautern. Maybe somebody that actually has been Davenport, Iowa could verify, if there is a building, that resembles the Rathaus Kaiserslautern.

Nanstein[edit]

The mentioned Nanstein Castle is not in Kaiserslautern , but appr. 10 km to the west in Landstuhl. I do not know in which way it plays role in the development of Kaiserslautern. That said, I did not want to erase it, but leave it up to somebody, that knows more about this. 62.143.13.120 14:43, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Schallodenbach, Schneckenhausen, and other towns in the 'district'[edit]

Schallodenbach and other towns in the area are not listed under any of the 'district articles, and the schallodenbach article says it's administered by K-town. can we get a listing like other districts have? thank you. ThuranX 03:44, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

We give [kaɪzɐˈslaʊtɐn] but the file sounds like ['kaɪzɐ.slaʊtɐn]. Lfh (talk) 15:40, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

why this nonsensical line?[edit]

It is 459 kilometres (285 miles) from Paris, 117 km (73 miles) from Frankfurt am Main, 666 kilometers (414 miles) from Berlin, and 159 km (99 miles) from Luxembourg.

Who cares about these arbitrary cities? Luxembourg?! Luxembourg?! 46.183.103.17 (talk) 10:28, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
