Julia Margaret Cameron Award for self-portraiture[edit]

The article says:

Correction: this is the sales page for a print-on-demand book of 120 pages. Its price is $90 plus, and thus distinctly over the average for a photobook. A search for it in Worldcat gives zero hits, so it's an obscure publication indeed. This sales page does not mention KA. The use of this link in a reference implies that the linked page gives evidence, but it doesn't give evidence. The reference was added in the very first edit, by Gvsima. As you can probably tell I am still learning Wikipedia, but joined to get into some editing for WikiProject Women artists. I'm happy to get advice and constructive criticism. That award book was the only reference I could find so far. Should I remove that award link and add her full exhibition history (saw in one of your other notes asking for a list of exhibitions) to the page? Thanks for the reply. I looked again, whereupon I noticed the "preview" option. That took me to a photo that looked as if it could be by KA. There's a caption with it, but this is illegible with my particular monitor. Googling a screen grab of the image took me to the same thing on KA's website. I'm willing to believe that the caption says what the WP article claims.

Incidentally, does anyone here know KA? If so, you might put her right about the Japanese word natsukashii. She says Natsukashii is a Japanese word most often translated into English as “nostalgia”, though there is no word in the English language that is comparable to it. Er, no: "nostalgia" would merely be a very obvious mistranslation; natsukashii might be "nostalgic". Simply, natsukashii is an adjective (its derived nominal is natsukashisa). There are of course plenty of English words that are comparable with natsukashii; but if you want a rough equivalent then "evocative" isn't bad though natsukashii can't be applied so freely. -- Hoary (talk) 02:16, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it shouldn't claim that for which no evidence is yet presented. Eventually, yes, a list of exhibitions would be a good idea. See this as a compact example. Yes, constructing such a list and "sourcing" each item within it (and not merely doing so to the website of the photographer her/himself) is indeed a chore. -- Hoary (talk) 02:23, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
