Declaring a COI[edit]

Hello all, I am Lord Bilimoria's Parliamentary Researcher and as such have been following this article for some time. (If necessary, I am happy to provide proof that I am who I say I am!) I am here to make clarifications, provide up-to-date information and media, and work to make this article better for everyone. I have read WP:COI and I will abide by the guidelines therein.

I have not edited this article before, but some of the body copy (particularly in the "Cobra Beer" section) looks like it has been copied straight from Cobra PR material, presumably by someone with a COI, particularly the line beginning "Cobra has celebrated a 5,000 mine journey..." I understand that this sort of writing conflicts with style and POV guidelines, and I would be happy to see it replaced with something more Wikified.

Conversely, I am uncomfortable with some of the wording surrounding Cobra's administration. I completely understand that information on Cobra's pre-pack is crucial to forming a complete biography of Lord Bilimoria, but I feel that it is currently laid out in a way that is both inaccurate and potentially POV. In particular, the line "On 29 May 2009 the company went 'into administration', the British term for bankruptcy..." has several flaws, namely putting "into administration" in scare quotes, and calling it the "British term for bankruptcy". The former is flawed because it could confuse readers into thinking that administration is a euphemism, rather than a correct legal term. The latter is flawed both for being factually inaccurate (they are not the same thing) and for reflecting what is - as far as I can tell - an American-centric view of the issue.

I would be very happy to work with editors, regardless of their views on Lord Bilimoria, to see what can be done to improve this article. I am conscious that Lord Bilimoria divides opinion in some circles, but that does not mean we cannot come to a consensus on what changes are necessary.

If you need to get in touch, please do leave a message on my talk page. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing your replies below.

The problematic material was unsourced so I've removed it per WP:BLP, and I agree that there were NPOV issues. January (talk) 18:14, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clean Up Vandalism[edit]

Removed link for Cobra Beer[edit]

Cobra (beer) was the link, currently a redirect to Charles Wells, which currently brews the beer for the UK market. There is only a small mention at the end of that article, which seems to me like pointing a link at a subsidiary or partner company rather than the expected target. Thus I'll redirect Cobra (beer) here, as he's the founder, CEO, and appears to have the most relevant information.

The Cobra beer article was tagged as an ad, which I agree it was. Here's a link to the latest version before redirect, if someone wishes to clean it up into a NPOV factual article. Gotyear 11:09, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've relinked it, this time to Cobra Beer, created last month as a small NPOV article. Gotyear 11:23, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BA Law Degree[edit]

Isn't his degree an LLB? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.244.133.158 (talk) 12:35, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added this, and I think I would have got it from the cited source, although it doesn't seem to be in that source any more. Anyone got a Who's Who to check it? Stephen Turner (Talk) 13:58, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citizenship?[edit]

Is Karan Bilimoria an Indian or British citizen? I think it is worth mentioning...or at least that he was born an Indian citizen.

Does anyone agree? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.134.167.40 (talk) 23:15, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cobra Beer revenue[edit]

What is the source for the £126 million figure? The Cobra Beer page cites much lower figures of around £45m referencing UK Companies House. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.131.25.129 (talk) 17:40, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Correct years for CBE?[edit]

How come it says under 'Styles and titles' that he was a CBE 2004–2006 and from 2010 again? I'm not familiar with British titles. What happened with this style between 2006 and 2010? Pinut (talk) 22:19, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bilimoria vs Bilimoria of Chelsea[edit]

Please see the London Gazette, the House of Lords and territorial designation. "of Chelsea" is not part of the title. Proteus (Talk) 14:19, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are indeed correct. Sorry for the inconvenience.Alan.Gilfroy (talk) 04:19, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I assessed this as "start" class. It's a self-assessment of my own article, but I think it's a bit better than a stub (and obviously not B-class yet). Stephen Turner (Talk) 22:15, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
