not wholly clear[edit]

Looking at the sentence "Kinsmen and women were organised in Clans, Tribes and Lodges." It is not wholly clear what a Kinsman (or woman) is. Are they the leaders or are they the participants?Fiddle Faddle 16:13, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"the Kibbo Kift was nonetheless quite widely known and admired by white Europeans" ... Erm, in those days all Europeans were white. So what's this supposed to mean? --88.109.101.42 (talk) 23:13, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some expansion needed[edit]

The article states that Hargrave "had become disenchanted with the increasingly militaristic tendency in the Scout movement", (with no source) then goes on to state (again, with no source) that Hargrave was "promptly" expelled from the Scout movement by BP. These two statements don't fit together; a process of becoming disenchanted followed by a "prompt expulsion" with no cited precipitatory event. What, then, was the event that led to his expulsion? If there wasn't an event then the expulsion wasn't "prompt" - it may have been "eventual" (though this also needs clarification as to why he was expelled). or Hargrave merely left of his own accord. This needs clarification. Tonywalton Talk 00:37, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent sourcing by IP[edit]

While it's good to see additional sources here, it's not really sufficient to use <ref>Annebella Pollen, ''The Kindred of the Kibbo Kift: Intellectual Barbarians'', Donlon Books, 2015.</ref> over and over again. Page numbers are needed to make sure the content is in the source, and that this is not just book-promo spam, as well as improving the reference formatting to WP style formats. Thanks. - CorbieV 18:31, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Further Reference/Source material[edit]

For information: the February 2016 (current) issue of the Fortean Times magazine contains a multi-page, illustrated and referenced article on the Kibbo Kift. I'm not in a position to add any relevant information to the Article using this resource (being (i) at Work and (ii) unpracticed at Wikipedia referencing), but others might wish to do so. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 185.74.232.130 (talk) 14:27, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

Kindred of the Kibbo Kift - nope, any resemblance of the name to the other KKK must be pure concidence! Except that any literate person in England in 1920 would be aware of the Klan through sources like the Clansman novels and the film The Birth of a Nation. And then in the early 30s the founder of the Kindred set up a paramilitary political organisation called the Green Shirts! I know little about the Kibbo Kift, but if its founder was not in any way sympathetic to fascist ideas, he had a remarkably bad taste in names. I suspect there has been a bit of retrospective sanitisation of the movement. There would be nothing unusual at the time in an association between 'ruralism' and fascist sympathies, the novelist and nature writer Henry Williamson being an obvious example.31.51.2.197 (talk) 20:08, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The problem remains, however: what *does* Kindred of the Kibbo Kift actually mean? "Kindred" is clear enough, but what in the bejaisis does kibbo kift mean?
