Currently the article mainly discusses Kimmeridge Bay, with mention of the village only in the first sentence. Perhaps the article should be moved to 'Kimmeridge Bay', with 'Kimmeridge' continuing as a separate article about the village. JimChampion (talk) 21:10, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Replacing some language with encyclopedic language
A few phrases in the last paragraph were subjective, or peacock, contrary to WP:PEACOCK style guidelines, "...avoid peacock terms which merely promote the subject of the article without imparting real information. Peacock terms often reflect unqualified opinion, and usually do not help establish the significance of an article."
Removed: "of some renown", "surfers will travel hundreds of miles to ride", "can be enjoyed by all", "(hardly ever!)", "perfect" (right handers), " The spiritual home of South coast surfing, this classic reef is for expert surfers only." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.130.129.53 (talk) 08:09, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject:Dorset assessment of importance: proposed change
I propose that the importance of this article under the WikiProject:Dorset banner be changed, from 'High' as it currently stands, to 'Mid'. Although the oilfield and geological interest impart greater importance to Kimmeridge than to other Dorset villages of similar size, I personally do not feel this warrants such a high rating as 'High', as this leaves little room for manoevre for other articles deemed more important than this one. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 18:50, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- Yep 'Mid' sounds more sensible to me. I notice that the pages Geology of Dorset and Isle of Purbeck are both currently rated 'Mid'. One or both of those could possibly do with being increased to 'High'. Pasicles (talk) 17:20, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree - such a move would at least bring them both into line with History of Dorset and Isle of Portland respectively. (Although it could be argued that these latter two articles are of greater significance in terms of general human interest [History] and international renown [Portland], I think for Dorset purposes they should be considered comparable). Actually I've noticed a number of the Project's article assessments seem a little anomalous - for instance why the small village of Ibberton should have been rated as 'Mid' but the River Frome only 'Low', is a bit curious.
