Bridges and Tunnels Low‑importance

Waihou River Crossing I doubt the claim that this bridge is the first crossing built on the Waihou River. The river extends right up past Paeroa and Te Aroha towards Matamata. I can think of at least five or six crossing points along its path which could pre-date the Kopu Bridge. The most obvious would be the the Criterion Bridge at Paeroa or the bridge at Te Aroha. Lead section[edit]
