[edit] Name

I am assume this was named for Tadeusz Kosciuszko? -- Anonymoues 10:58 Oct 26, 2002 (UTC)

[edit] Pronunciation

How is it pronounced? Our (Australia's) highest mountain is also named for him, we pronounce it Kos-ee-osk-coe, apparently this is nothing like the Polish.

Does "kah-zee-ESS-ko" correspond to IPA [kə.zɪ'es.koʊ]?

According to polish friends, the pronunciation is /KƆ ʃUkɒ/ Paul Roberton (talk) 01:41, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Here in Mississippi, we pronounce it "koz-ee-es-ko". - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 20:04, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

I moved the pronunciation statement here since there's no source for it:

It is locally pronounced Kah-zee-ESS-ko.

I don't know what kind of respelling is that, so I need an IPA transcription or (better) an audio file to know the exact local pronuciation of the town.--Carnby (talk) 16:23, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

My highschool English teacher(in Melbourne, Australia) was a native pole and told me the Poles pronounced it /KƆ ʃUʃkɒ/. Comes.amanuensis (talk) 15:41, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
