Did you know... that French architect Léon Azéma, a prisoner of the Germans during World War I, designed the Douaumont ossuary (pictured) to hold the bones of 130,000 unidentified soldiers of both sides?

Engineering stability[edit]

The French language reference seems to say (I do not speak French) that the engineers would have difficulty (impossible?) constructing the design of the ossuary for reasons of stability. It may be worth putting something in the article if someone can read the French. Spinning Spark 17:01, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
