Name is from what language?[edit]

The article says the name means "beautiful water." I wonder which language this is from. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.53.204.79 (talk) 18:08, 28 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

The name is not Cherokee as stated in the article. It was likely borrowed from New Hampshire's Lake Winnepesaukee, which could mean "beautiful water in a high place" in the Pennacook dialect of Algonquian. Winnepesaukee has been a tourist destination in NH for some time, so it must have seemed a reasonable thing to name the (probably man-made) lake at the center of a theme park. Incident[edit]

This article failed to mention drownings in the swimming pool and the fact that a lady was once struck by lightning while on the Ferris Wheel. There's also been other people who once owned Lake Winnepesaukah 139.180.233.132 (talk) 04:50, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
