Copyrighted story[edit]

Umm, should the whole of the story really be on here? Isn't it copyrighted? It's in his 'Skin and other stories' book (actually published), so I would've thought that it can't be reproduced in its entirety here? Baberlp 20:17, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Woah. Huh. That is weird. I could swear I recognize that website, though (I think my semester at online school used it as a reference? For a poem or something). I'm not sure if that should really be there, though.--Yubishines 01:31, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reason For Murder?[edit]

my English teacher thinks that the husband wants a divorce and i asked him if he got that idea from a guide book and he said yes... 216.246.237.242 (talk) 02:50, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know the reason was never revealed; it's part of what gives the story its edge. MelicansMatkin (talk) 03:15, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The reason is indeed revealed and it is that the husband wants a divorce. Kostaki mou (talk) 04:17, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I thought it's implied it's abortion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.237.222.73 (talk) 23:52, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Italian?![edit]

Is this page actually in italian?! If so why?! I'm reading the english version of wiki, but this entire article is in Italian?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.142.254.226 (talk) 05:49, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seems some vandalism slipped through; I've reverted it to an earlier version. Melicans (talk, contributions) 06:11, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

The article says "The main character, Mary Maloney, has also been noted among one of the most complex characters in short stories, from her drastic change portrayed by Roald Dahl."; but there is no reference or source stating where this is noted. Should this be fixed? Even if it shouldn't it would be nice to have a reliable source which states this along with all the reasons. Frodo 11011 (talk) 04:26, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Without a source, it's the writer's opinion, and has to go. The passage also requires rewriting because the sentence is badly structured and the subordinate clause doesn't make sense. 12.233.146.130 (talk) 19:53, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

America?[edit]

Does this story take place in America? what is this based on ? Jeff Song (talk) 22:49, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, it takes place in the UK, and I don't believe that it's based on anything - simply a work of Dahl's imagination. Sweet Brunette (talk) 02:02, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Meat serving[edit]

I would actually rather say that she wanted to let the meat burn, but when the policeman told her that she 'forgot' it, she quickly decided to feed it to them. (in the textbit says that she wanted to make the policemen eat it all the time) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.50.146.47 (talk) 21:22, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
