Fair use rationale for Image:Lands of Lore.gif[edit]

Image:Lands of Lore.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:01, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Canonical Hero[edit]

The shown picture changes with each install of the game. There is no "one true" hero. --80.121.45.228 (talk) 23:36, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is wrong, see Lands of Lore 2 Wiki Page —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.222.232.218 (talk) 18:46, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I know this is over 20 years-old but just for the record, Kieran IS the canonical hero and mentioned as such in both Guardians of Destiny and III. Spymaster Cosades (talk) 03:08, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removed maps section[edit]

I removed the maps section of this article and the related pictures, as they are not appropriate for this type of article.--Jazz Remington (talk) 01:22, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing[edit]

Adam, what sourcing do you need for this? If its something that an academic library might have I can look for it to see if I can find the sourcing for you. Video games are far from my speciality, but I'm pretty decent at finding sources (well, at least for obscure things in the 17th century, but I suspect I can try here too.) TonyBallioni (talk) 00:24, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@TonyBallioni: I need sourcing for this being ported to the FM Towns and NEC PC. Surprisingly, it's not in the Retro Gamer source. Most of the stuff on the web are blogs and the like. Adam9007 (talk) 00:28, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any idea of a hard copy book that it might be in (publisher or name)? The libraries I have access to all have a pretty extensive non-English section or foreign published section. I did find what appears to be a review that you don't have cited: Encounter in Lands of Lore Reviewed by Ahmed Kamal Nava New Straits Times, 11/17/1997. I don't have access to it, but someone at WP:RX might. TonyBallioni (talk) 00:40, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@TonyBallioni: Nope . Like I said, I have no idea where to look. I do have a few Japanese magazines and books, but none of them are about the FM Towns or NEC PC (or RPGs). As for this other source, that doesn't sound like this game, but of course, without actually seeing it, I can't know for sure. Adam9007 (talk) 00:48, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I can't promise much because what turned up in the search of academic libraries near me you already have, but I'll try a few different search terms later. If you do find a hard copy source with a name that you want to see and need access to it, feel free to ping me or leave a note on my talk page and I'll see if I can access it. TonyBallioni (talk) 00:51, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@TonyBallioni: The best I could find for the NEC PC is this, and pretty much all I could find for the FM Towns is this auction. Far from ideal sourcing . I didn't know you could search academic libraries? Adam9007 (talk) 01:53, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the ones in North America have an open library search system that anyone from the public can search to see if they have a book in their collection, and then there is also Worldcat, which is better, but less useful for my purposes since I don't have ILL access *grumble*. Hardcopy access only, unfortunately, but most of the good sources for things that I work on are hardcopy only anyway. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:01, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

CD version difficulty[edit]

The difficulty of the cd version significantly higher than the floppy version. According to someone who worked at Westwood at the time, they made the cd version difficulty higher because there was feedback from the floppy version saying the game was too easy. https://i.imgur.com/Zp1ZSSy.png This is a screen capture from a twitch chat. I don't know what ArcadeRen's actual name is, or what his position, at Westwood, was but he has a twitter https://twitter.com/ArcadeRen.

Lands of Lore Wiki[edit]

Hey everyone. If you need a resource for anything about this game and others in the series, I and a team of editors have put together a really comprehensive wiki on the subject with over 1,000 articles. And if there are any editors out there who are intimately familiar with these games, we'd love to have your contributions as well. I've even spoken to Rick Gush, head writer, and other developers from Westwood Studios in an effort to get a more complete picture. Not to sound like a shameless plug, just trying my best to archive this unique and inspired hidden gem of a series that has been unfortunately buried by time. Thank you. Spymaster Cosades (talk) 00:40, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Spymaster Cosades, Hi. Unfortunately, sources such as Fandom, being user-generated, are considered unreliable and therefore cannot be used in this article. However, if there's a transcript of your conversations with the developers, we may be able to use that here if it can be verified. Adam9007 (talk) 02:10, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, although I do try to run a tight ship over there. I make sure every article has it's own set of references from in-game dialogue, to manuals and game-guides, interviews, archived websites and other official sources. I wouldn't try to add the LoL Wiki as a source in and of itself, but it's not a bad place to start if you're just looking for more information.
