So if Bundestag is "Federal Diet", Reichstag is the "Imperial Diet", isn't Landtag "Provincial Diet" or "State Diet"? or is it "State Assembly"? Gryffindor 13:57, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. The correct translation of the german word Landtag is State Diet. --MBelzer (talk) 14:16, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In Germany the officiall name of a Landtag is Landesparlament, which means state parliament in English, so you can say that Landtag is a Provincial Diet. User:GermanTiuri 08:47, 06 July 2007 (MESZ)

Just a note, both Finland and Sweden (Swedish Pomerania) have also had Landtags at some point in time. This should be added to the article. -Yupik 10:21, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The link to the Finnish Landtag can be found at Diet of Finland. -Yupik 10:24, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How is Landtag different from Landesrat?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:43, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Landesrat i don't know, but 'Landrat' is the president of a German 'Landkreis' (county, district); (at least in Southern Germany, i'm from Baden-Württemberg) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.164.230.240 (talk) 07:52, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Landtag is the term for the parliament in Austria and Germany, Landesrat is the term for a member of this parliament in Austria, in Germany a member is called Mitglied des Landtags, which means member of the Landtag. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8070:21A2:A700:9284:DFF:FEF5:C9F8 (talk) 13:08, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ducal Prussia[edit]

Not just ducal Prussia had a Landtag but also all other german duchies! And such a Landtag was more or less an assembly (or meeting) of the Estates of the duchy. Some had 3 Estates and others less like the ducial Wuerttrmberg for example which had only 2! [1] --89.50.28.195 (talk) 17:25, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Buildings where they meet[edit]

My question is, what is the name of each building where each Landtag meets? I know the Bavarian Landtag meets in the Maximilianeum, and Brandenburg in the Potsdamer Schloß, but what about all the rest? And the former Landtage (East/West Prussia, Silesia, Posen, Pomerania, Alsace-Lorraine, Baden, Westphalia, Hanover, Rhineland, Württemburg)? And what're the names of the buildings for the executive residences, if any? --148.87.19.214 (talk) 22:40, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
