Picture[edit]

Is that seriously the best picture you could come up with? Comeon. You could at least show him dunkin or sumthin. Taliking on his cell phone? what is this world coming too...Xunflash 21:23, 10 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's better. Xunflash 21:30, 10 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone with an account that has permission to post pictures put a picture up? a good one when he was playing his best on the Knicks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.100.185.189 (talk) 05:59, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Where is he ?[edit]

Is Latrell Sprewell still considering playing for a NBA Team during 05-06 season?

See my latest edits---Jackel 17:28, 19 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Here is where he is: Sprewell yacht repossessed (Aug. 22, 2007 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) --Mmathu 09:02, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it possible that the Timberwolves could still do a sign and trade?

Sign Spreewell, then trade him? Why? The timberwolves have no more leverage over him than any other team. If a team wanted him they could just sign him.---Jackel 14:35, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Additions[edit]

The most recent additions come without sources, and the Greg Popovich quote doesn't make much sense to me, since the trade deadline has no impact on the acquiring of Sprewell. Sprewell left to New York? Anyway, we need some sources or this stuff has to go. -Grassferry49 22:54, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, the new additions seem POV, like they were added by a particularly ardent Sprewell fan. The images are not copyrighted, and their descriptions appear to violate NPOV as well. The quotes aren't sourced. I think a lot of it should be removed. - Davis21Wylie 01:42, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation[edit]

I reverted this edit by Tribe because the 1997 choking incident is already mentioned further down in the article. In the intro, I think that "combative manner" will cover it. Bash Kash (talk) 03:29, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Media Take Out[edit]

I have removed the info in this article from MediaTakeOut.com for various reasons. First off, the Wikipedia article describes it as a "blog-style gossip website." It goes on to say that the founder gets 90% of their stories from "insiders looking to spill the beans – like hairstylists, bodyguards or bitter ex-girlfriends." Because of this, I feel that it fails WP:RS. I think we should stick to more authoritative sources in this case - especially when we're dealing with the biography of a living person. Wikipedia should stay at a professional level and not rely on gossip websites for its information. To top that off, the title of the article is "DANG!!! NBA Latrell Sprewell's House IS FORECLOSED!!!" Let's stick to the type of sources that this article has been using so far (local Milwaukee newspapers, ESPN, etc.) Bash Kash (talk) 01:52, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You still provided information that you got from media take out. Money owed in taxes home being foreclosed. Where did you get that from????Ron John (talk) 05:57, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ESPN.com says "He owes more than $72,000 in unpaid taxes" and "his company, Sprewell Motorsports, hasn't paid its credit card bills since September." ([1]) The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel states that "A River Hills home belonging to former NBA star Latrell Sprewell was foreclosed on Monday after he failed to show up in court to Monday contest the action brought by a bank that held his mortgage." ([2]) Both of these sources are cited in the article. Bash Kash (talk) 08:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is Sprewell most famous for?[edit]

Those who are huge NBA fans may be "shocked" to know this, but Latrell Sprewell is known to the outside world for only one, or possibly two things: Non-fans are completely unaware of his "fastbreak two-handed tomahawk dunks", impressive as those must be. He gained fame (or, more accurately, infamy") for his attack on his coach. I recently moved this up to earlier in the opening paragraph, because it is what he is known for, but it was moved behind his FTHTDs. The other thing that he is known for more than his FTHTDs is his comment about $21m being insufficient to feed his family. Rightly or wrongly, that stuck in the craw of a lot of folks.

I have done Google searches and confirmed that the choking of PJ (and that's what it was--the current version[3] says "the infamous incident which involved choking P.J. Carlesimo", not even openly acknowledging that it was Sprewell doing the attacking) is far, far and away the thing most often mentioned about Sprewell, even in articles written ten years after the event. If I have to make the opening paragraph look sloppy with a dozen references to prove this point, I will do so, but I think that the point is self-apparent to the average non-NBA fan (which means 99% of the readership of Wikipedia). 68.218.205.114 (talk) 02:28, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your change is an improvement. The article suffered from fan-page-ism. I tweaked the lead a bit to avoid judgmental adjectives: just the facts. THF (talk) 03:22, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! 68.218.205.114 (talk) 04:27, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that he's probably best-known for choking his coach, but I'm not sure if that should be mentioned in the very first sentence. It was one moment out of a long and productive career. I've moved the sentence about Carlesimo to the end of the first paragraph. Zagalejo^^^ 04:50, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Latrell Sprewell/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

This article is littered with simple grammar errors including failure to use apostrophes to denote possessive clauses, and sentence fractures. Although the facts are accurate, the simple mistakes are just too blatant.
