notable performances[edit]

where did she perform? really small town theater shouldn't qualify as a notable performance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.170.168.43 (talkcontribs) 19:49, March 18, 2007

69.72.28.221 03:32, 23 March 2007 (UTC)"She has an amazing voice and amazing acting skills. She definitely is the one America wants" sounds like campaigning for her put in by a fan. Granted, she is one of the two finalists, but this is not information, but opinion.69.72.28.221 03:32, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. So, delete it. (JosephASpadaro 04:49, 26 March 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Small town theater? If you had done any research on Laura you would have seen that she has performed in some of the biggest theater's in Minnesota. Including two Tony Award winning theaters: The Guthrie and The Children's Theatre Company. And not just small ensemble roles, leading roles such as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

Repeated insertions of possible blp vio[edit]

One new page editor and one ip have attempted to add information sourced from pagesix.com (which is drek but I do think qualifies as RS/is not on the perennial list). I thought given the sourcing somebody should discuss this somewhere OTHER than in edit summary. Discussion? In the meantime I've semi-protected the page, but am allowing those new contributors to make a case with substantial sources. My question is: are there better and more sources about this? Because if not, the page is happier without it. BusterD (talk) 15:06, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thing is, lots of people, famous or not, with a Wikipedia article or not, may have refused a vaccine and possibly been sacked from his/her job, I don't feel its something notable or relevant to be included, it does little improvement to the article. No argument from me. BusterD (talk) 15:36, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I completely disagree. It's unusual for us not to include firing from a significant job for any reason on biography. If she left the role because she broke her ankle, would we not include it? If she left it because she sexually harassed someone, would we not include it? More reliable sources have since picked up the story as well, though they do use the original as a source. [1] [2] I would be fine with waiting for a better source for this before adding it to the article, but once we have one, this should be in the article. This information has now been confirmed and clarified by the subject herself. See [1]. I'm adding this here since a commenter on the page requested the discussion move to the Talk page. I suggest adding something like this in Controversies or under Stage Career: "In August 2021, Osnes exited a concert production of Crazy For You at the Guild Hall in East Hampton, NY after the producers mandated vaccinations for performers. [2]" Osnes issued a stated that she had not been vaccinated yet and that she "[stood] by the decision my husband and I, with input from our physician, have made for ourselves, our family planning, and our future." I would also suggest wrapping "our family planning" in a reference to this but I don't know if that follows Wikipedia rules: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_misinformation#Reproductive_health. [-Random IP address]

Since the actress has now confirmed that she has left the show due to her vaccination status, I see absolutely no reason to not include it now. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 19:47, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Anything contentious in a biography of a living person needs a reliable source - page six falls under WP:NYPOST at perennial sources - it isn't reliable. That content shouldn't be in this article unless it can be sourced to a reliable source Tristario (talk) 05:30, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
