Unconfirmed agencies[edit]

These agencies were red-linked from List of law enforcement agencies in New York, and their existence has yet to be confirmed:

I do not know alot of info about these agencies, but I do have photos of patches of some of them.

I know the following agencies are still active:

I'm not sure about the others. MOOOOOPS (talk) 04:34, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

National Guard Units?[edit]

Technically, they can be called into action for law enforcement capacity if ordered to do so by the Governor. I will add them in. 161.185.151.150 (talk) 20:27, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Table sort issue[edit]

Anyone with an eye on this page who is good with wikitable markup. Because I noticed that the table for city agencies doesn't quite sort correctly when sorting by the size column. It seems to sort by the first number, not the overall value, as it places the NYPD below much smaller agencies seemingly because the 36k+ value begins with a 3 instread of a 1. Anyone know how to fix that. I may poke around for a bit to find that out, but if anyone already knows, that'd be a good fix. oknazevad (talk) 15:14, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, figured it out. The question marks for unknown values was making it sort alphabetically, not numerically. I replaced them with hyphens for an empty cell. If the numbers can be found, that'd be even better, but the question mark or "N/A" would throw off the sorting, so can't be used. oknazevad (talk) 15:21, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I want to add that NYC's FlatIron District and Rochdale Village and Stuyvesant both have private public safety law enforcement agencies Waroftime (talk) 15:30, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Department Of Homeless Services Police are not Special Patrolman! They're Special Officers Allmighty55 (talk) 05:36, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This page has the classification of the city law enforcement agencies all wrong! Do your homework! The only special patrolman are the Park Enforcement Officers. Special patrolman fall under line 27 of the CPL! The others are line 40 for Special Officer and 79 for Cuny Peace Officers. Allmighty55 (talk) 05:42, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made.  spintendo  05:29, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello My request is to make the change General law enforcement to Primary law enforcement as it pertains to duties of the NYPD under City government agencies. Information was sourced via the NYPD wiki page, second sentence. Thank you Your Funny (talk) 20:07, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Sir Joseph (talk) 20:45, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

City university of new york are peace officers as per cpl 2.10. 70.107.94.3 (talk) 05:35, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article already includes CUNY in the table and above the table it mentions cpl 2.10. Please clarify what change you are asking for. RudolfRed (talk) 06:19, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Amend New York Racing Association Peace Officers from 15 staff to 300 sworn and 22 non sworn in the table. Patch logo is also located at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Racing_Association#/media/File:NYRA_Peace_Officer_Patch.jpg NYCpolicewhiz (talk) 20:32, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: I added the patch image to the table. You'll need to provide a reliable source for the staff numbers. Xan747 (talk) 01:26, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bot Removed Addition of Patch Images[edit]

JJMC89 bot keeps removing images of patches. Im not a super seasoned editor, but I would think that these patches are in the public domain. The images are all already displayed on the agencies individual pages. If for some reason the images aren't allowed can we remove the patch column in the list as it is now largely empty? Thanks for the help!

The most recent example is the bot's edit on 09:04, 31 December 2023 Henjaffe (talk) 17:06, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove the errant ref tag at the end of this sentence in the "Powers and authority section":

The exercise of these powers are very limited to the employee's geographical area of employment and only while such employee is actually on duty as listed in Chapter 13 subsection (C): Special Patrolman,</ref>.
