Claim of Bulgarian Ghostwriting[edit]

This is a Bulgarian fantasy author, known as Plamen Mitrev. He has 4 books as Leonard Carpenter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Painbearer (talkcontribs) 00:25, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any evidence to back up this claim? I found only three references to it on the web, and only one with any pretence to authority. It lists another pseudonym as "Peter Tailler." I find only only one work ascribed to Plamen Mitrev in OCLC's Worldcat database, and none for Peter Tailler, and none ascribed either to Mitrev or Tailler on Amazon.com. Nor do the Internet Speculative Fiction Database or the Fantastic Fiction site have anything on Mitrev or Tailler. Unfortunately, Carpenter's own website includes very little personal data, and none to elucidate the mystery. I am more than a little inclined to suspect a hoax. I know Leonard Carpenter personally, any way I could contribute? -Shane
Sure. See above. Know anything? BPK (talk) 19:24, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I can disprove this claim seeing as in I know him, he's my best friend's father. His website contains his resume. I will post a link as soon as I can. To add to this comment, the books made by Mitrev are not any of the books made by Carpenter. I'd suggest putting it on Mitrev's page that he went under an alias of Leonard Carpenter not to be confused with this author. -Shane —Preceding comment was added at 00:00, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a little late to the party here, but Shane told me he had it covered. I tried adding an image a little while back, but I guess it seems I can't do that at my current account level. I don't like the whole bit about the claims "Appearing" to be false. I'm looking up this Plamen guy under his name and his other alleged pseudonym, I can only find one source that's still purveying this myth, and it's "sfbookcase.com" They don't have the claims sourced, and even go so far as to say that Mitrev is published in the US, while not listing the works that are allegedly published. The other pen name is allegedly "Peter J. Tailler" who only has two books listed and supposedly they were only printed in Bulgaria and Russia.Jeffman12 (talk) 19:47, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There was a comment here about him not corresponding or providing adequate evidence of his existence it seems to have been removed along with my mention of being his son. Well he now has a facebook account so I'm going to go ahead and change this page once and for all. This has caused me no small amount of distress over the past couple of years as I'm a staunch archivist and skeptic. To have an apparent conspiracy theory of this sort being hinted at with far less compelling evidence to back it up just because someone else got here first and in the interest of "fairness" is absurd. Learn the meaning of false balance. An unsourced anecdote from an unverified source is less evidence than 2 sourced anecdotes from two people associated with the subject.
I have left the claim on the page for review, but changed its status to confirmed false. I would like to see it removed entirely as it's irrelevant. Jeffman12 (talk) 06:13, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You know, it's not just irrelevant, it's absurd, how can an unverified footnote on an unsourced publicly maintained website be considered potentially factual over the entry on that very same website which has no mention of this Plamen Mitrev. I have searched for both Plamen Mitrev and Peter Tailler exhaustively and found no evidence of their existence in writing aside from that of this one website. How can ANOTHER AUTHOR's page on that site take precidence as a source over his own? Why is that not a source? His own page has no mention of this at all. Anyways, if my one-sided ranting isn't met with any response, I'm removing the claim and the source entirely.Jeffman12 (talk) 23:02, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's been a month, I'm changing it.Jeffman12 (talk) 19:41, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
