[edit] Rock Around the Clock

I've heard rumors that a recording of Elvis doing Rock Around the Clock on the Louisiana Hayride has been uncovered andsfdfs is awaiting release. Can anyone back that up? If so, it should be added to the list. 23skidoo 21:02, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

I do not agree: It shouldn't be added unless it were released. Elvis might have recorded many songs that are not released yet. In my opinion this list should consist of released songs only. df --Janti 18:52, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

  • That's a good point, but there are clearly unreleased tracks listed here already. Anyway, a year after making my previous comment I've yet to find a source to confirm that a version of Rock Around the Clock a la Elvis has in fact been located, so I'm not pushing to add it till I find confirmation. 23skidoo 19:21, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] songs

What was Elvis's first song?? I don't know the answere to this one but I could not find where to complain about the list of Elvis songs It is not complete.

"That's Alright Mama". Vera, Chuck & Dave 23:04, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
That was his first commercially released recording. However according to this site, the first recordings Elvis ever made were "My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartaches Begin" at the demo session he did for sun in July 1953. His first professionally recorded song, for Sun, is believed to have been "Harbor Lights", followed by "I Love You Because" and then he did "That's All Right". 23skidoo 19:23, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The x's

Why are some songs on the list followed with an x? SleepyStud 17:21, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Get Back

EPE -Elvis Presley Enterprises did release elvis doing a cover of the beatles "Get Back". It was also performed and video taped in front of a live audience and in an informal session for the movie "Elvis: That's the way it is". This was released on both the original LP/Tape/CD and the re-mastered and extended tape/CD. I have added it to the list.

  • edit* (forgot to sign in before)--Brian(view my history)/(How am I doing?) 07:00, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
  • A performance of Get Back from the mid-1970s was also included in the 1980 "Elvis Aron Presley" box set. 23skidoo 19:25, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] References

I added some references to section "A". Sorry that it took so many edits, but after I did the first ones, I later learned how to re-use a footnote. --Rockfang (talk) 06:04, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bogus songs and links

This list needs to be vetted - badly. I just deleted "A Big Heart of Love" which is clearly a typo for "Big Hunk of Love" and someone added that Elvis performed a Queen song that wasn't even recorded until 1980! I am also in the process of sorting through links removing obviously useless ones and I'm also removing redlinks because not every title is linked, many of these song will never have articles written about them, and if someone happens to write an article with the same name (different subject), it'll just create a confusing blue link. I'm also trying to fix links that have not been formatted correctly. 23skidoo (talk) 23:57, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

I just sourced a bunch of songs. I'll do more when I get feeling back in my fingers. ;) Also, for some songs like (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear I added the part in parentheses to coincide with [1] but I kept it under the "T" section. How do you feel about these changes? --Rockfang (talk) 05:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

I am going through the list and adding album references to each song and adding missing songs from the list. I will highlight any songs that I am not sure about eg Be Bop-A-Lula was recorded by Orion (Jinmmy Ellis, an Elvis sound-a like) but I can't find a recording by Elvis, but I do believe that Elvis sang the MICKEY MOUSE MARCH at a live show, but I don't have that! (grumpyalf June 2009)

[edit] Some songs more and less

  • Are you sure that there is recording of Elvis singing "Walk That Lonesome Road"? I know J. D. Sumner sang it in Elvis Presley Shows, but Elvis himself didn't sing it, I'm afraid...
  • There is recording of Elvis singing "Some-whe-re o-ver the rain-bow." Only those four words, not more, but he sang it and I guess it should be added in the list... (You can hear it on "Complete Tour Sessions" volume 1)
  • Also there is studio recording of "The Prisoner's Song" and "Animal Instinct" (both in album "Animal Instinct Studios" for example)...
  • "Alright, Okay, You Win" was sung at September 29th 1974 in Detroit...

[edit] Elvis Song

I am trying to find the song title that has the words, "I'm going to follow that dream wherever that dream may lead me...." Molly Sioux (talk) 18:43, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

The song is called "Follow That Dream". Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idbb75_djrA Darlyn Perez (talk) 18:59, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Footnotes

The footnotes need fixing. Can anyone help? Jimknut (talk) 01:48, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Slightly annoying

Awhile back, I had cited refs for a ton of songs on this article. You can see it here. It is a bit annoying to come back here and notice they are all gone now. I'm not going to readd them, but someone else can if they'd like.--Rockfang (talk) 22:09, 5 February 2009 (UTC) What would be helpful is a reference to the album or CD the song is on (Grumpyalf) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grumpyalf (talkcontribs) 00:29, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Table

I don't want to mess anything up. I am not good with tables but you should make a table with the song, album, and comments. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.27.12.50 (talk) 20:30, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Agadoo

Really? Did Elvis really record Agadoo? Rob Burbidge (talk) 21:31, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Killing Me Softly

I just made 2 changes concernings a song in the list called "Killing Me Softly"... it was listed this way: "Killing Me Softly" so the link says "Killing Me Softly" but it leads to "Killing Me Softly With His Song" wikipedia page. Here's what I did:

  1. removed the hyperlink - because on the linked page there was no mention of Elvis at all, and also I can find no evidence in any google search that there is such a song recorded by Elvis
  2. added a citation needed tag - because I think it is a questionable item in the list, and I hoe someone can provide proof that the song was actually recorded by Elvis

Can anyone confirm this is actually on an album (etc) of Elvis? Thanks. Fallendarling (talk) 00:20, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

I looked into this further. The following website suggests the song was sung at an Elvis concert, but not by Elvis... rather by a group called "VOICE":
  1. http://www.elvisconcerts.com/real/oct74-01.htm
  2. http://www.elvisconcerts.com/real/oct74-02.htm
A YouTube video titled "Killing Me Softly - Voice" sounds like Elvis introducing the group "VOICE" and getting "out of the way" so they could sing.
"Killing Me Softly (Sherril Nielsen)" is listed in a YouTube video titled "Elvis - the Definitive Live Rarities Collection - part 10" (apparently "part 10" is the YouTube video sequence number, not the album volume, which seems to be Vol. 7). Note that Sherrill Nielsen is not spelled correctly in that video title. Sherrill seemed to sing "Killing Me Softly" all by himself in this video, although there were backup vocals.
And lastly, I found a forum post from a fan who says that they "wish Elvis had done it" ("Killing Me Softly"), rather than Sherrill Nielsen... the same post suggests that Sherrill Nielsen was a tenor, perhaps he was a backup vocalist for Elvis during his concerts:
http://www.elvis-collectors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=50245&start=125
So, I can not find sources to cite with any positive evidence that Elvis ever sang "Killing Me Softly." However, I can not find conclusive evidence to the contrary either, so far... but I hope the above research helps the next person who tries. Thanks if you can help. [edit] I, John

One of my favourite Elvis songs, "I, John" seems to be missing from this list, and missing from Wikipedia entirely. It was on his "Peace in the Valley: The Complete Gospel" album, which also seems to be missing from Wikipedia. Here it is on Youtube
