Merging the two lists[edit]

There's a partial overlap between this article and the list of South African writers at List_of_African_writers_(by_country)#South_Africa. I'd like to merge the two, but first would like consensus on where the list belongs. My feeling is that that pages list will get too long and unwieldy to be on one page. Those countries that currently only have a few writers listed should have them listed there, but as these lists get longer they can get broken off into their own lists (with only a link there). The South African list can be substantially longer, as there's a bit of a boom happening now, with lots of new authors being published. Please discuss this on that article's talk page (Talk:List_of_African_writers_(by_country)), as that page seems to be more active than this one. Greenman 12:17, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Stephen Watson[edit]

My source (Modern South African Poetry, reffed bottom of list) gives Watson's birth date as 1953 rather than 1955. Do we know which is accurate? JackyR 20:48, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What do we mean by "writers"?[edit]

Should this list not specify the genres to which "writers" refer? Does this include authors of fiction and non-fiction (as the inclusion of Van Onselen suggests); academic and non-academic work; only fiction, or also poetry?

Dubious names[edit]

Andrew Martens and Deon Meyer seem to lack articles, while Chris Mann's article gives no indication that he was associated with South Africa. JMK (talk) 22:24, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Martens, will add an article for Meyer shortly. Greenman (talk) 10:08, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
