[edit] Melon ball

I have removed this text from Melon ball, since that page treats balls of melon and the tool used to make them. This seems like the most logical page for the information to end up in, but then again maybe it shouldn't end up anywhere, per WP:What Wikipedia is not.

"Melon ball" is also the name of a cocktail, typically made with melon liqueur, vodka and orange juice.

[edit] Criteria for inclusion

So what are the criteria for a cocktail being included on this page? An IP deleted about fifty links because they were "not recognized by the International Bartenders Association or The Official International Professional Bartenders Organization", which I reverted because this wasn't a clear criteria for inclusion. They came back and deleted them again because they were "made up drinks, you are trying to make people think your drinks are real".

Where we should draw the line? Obviously we shouldn't be including genuinely "made up drinks" here, but clearly many of the drinks which fall outside the IBA/OIPBO list are still "real". We already flag IBA Official Cocktails as such; should we also flag those which are recognised by the IBA/OIPBO, if this is a significant body? --McGeddon (talk) 17:06, 20 November 2011 (UTC) I see what you are saying, yes, if wish to include them, please flag that they are not recognized drinks. Great compromise.

We should follow Wikipedia notability guidelines and how most such lists operate on Wikipedia: if the drink has an article (passing notability, verifiability, reliable sources, etc.) then it can be included. Where things get grey is when a variation of a drink that has an article is listed. In many of these cases the variation is not notable (generally needs two independent reliable sources). That said, some of the drinks removed by the IP were not appropriate for the article like the Sunny Pirate and the Culture Shock. The article does need a very thorough vetting. This is not true, I view OIPBO as an extension of IBA, of course there are real drinks that fall outside of both the organization and Association. However, the specific drinks are products of craft cocktail bars, which makes up approximately .003% of the bars in america. What's worse is these drinks, aren't made at every craft bar, so it's closer to .00095% This can not possibly be considered a true call. If everyone who made up a drink and put it on this list, how accurate would this list be? What constitutes a real drink, nobody can really define this truly, however, if you can not get a drink at 90% of the bars in your area, it shouldn't be anywhere on this list. Not that this should be a criteria, but it would provide a much more accurate "list of cocktails". 174.73.10.230 (talk)

[edit] Lunchpail

The hiperlink for "Lunchpail" (in cocktails with beer) send you to the Lunch box's page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.46.19.129 (talkcontribs) 21:44, 1 February 2012‎

Fixed. Thanks. --McGeddon (talk) 12:12, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
As part of our drive to tidy the page to have only notable cocktails maybe this should be removed (on the basis that if it were notable it would have a wikipage)?Icarusgeek (talk) 18:01, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
