Live-action films based on cartoons[edit]

I have revised this page to also include live-action films that are based on animated cartoons. The more inclusive format would bring this page in line with similar other pages, such as List of films based on English-language comics and List of films based on comic strips. Doing so would encourage the deletion of the page List of live-action films based on cartoons and comics, which seems too broad to be particularly useful.

I created a new section for live-action films, which I then merged with the section on hybrid live-action/animated films because it is difficult to determine nowadays whether films contain CG elements or not. If someone wanted to partial out those films having traditional animation elements, rather than CG, that would make sense to me. Or if someone wanted to partial out those films where cartoon characters were clearly animated (either traditionally or CG), that would make sense to me too. As it currently stands, the section includes all of these films. Osubuckeyeguy (talk) 21:04, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Criteria for inclusion[edit]

For films to be included on this list, they should be based on an original animated cartoon short-subject or series. Films based on cartoons, which were themselves originally based on toys (e.g., Transformers), video games, or comic strips (e.g., Richie Rich), should not be included. Film order[edit]

I am re-ordering films under each character heading so they appear chronologically rather than alphabetically. This would seem to be more helpful. It makes it easier to identify and add missing films. One can also click through easily to see how films changed over the years (e.g., see what year it was when Scrappy-Doo no longer appeared).
