[edit] Adriatic

you might want to include the Adriatic as another ship in the ragtag fleet. It was mentioned in the episode "Home, Part 1". This ship was apparently a part of the fleet that broke away from the main fleet shortly after the deposed President Roslin makes a secret call to the fleet for finding the Tomb of Athena and the map to Earth. It was a ship that was detected on the Dradus net of the Astral Queen. This happens in a scene shortly before Starbuck, Caprica-Sharon, and Helo return from Caprica to present the Arrow of Apollo to President Roslin and her followers. I know nothing else about the Adriatic with the exception that it is both mentioned by some crewmembers regarding something amiss, and seen on the Dradus net of the Astral Queen.

Respectfully submitted,

[edit] Colonial Defender

Don't remove valid ships without a good reason. -130.130.37.6 00:54, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Just because some fan boy says he "made" the design - I doubt he's involved in the show at all. Looks to me like he just made a drawing of it based on what he sees in the show. I'll keep this around for a day or two unless someone can give credentials, or it's going bye bye. This page is for canon ships only - not someone who has too much time on his hands to give names for every ship in the fleet. Unless it's given a name in the show, or listed on SciFi.com it doesn't belong here. Cyberia23 01:30, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
That "Boy" is a professional 3d Graphics artist. And as written in the description, he made the original design and one of his buddies from Zoic put it in the series. THAT is what the article says, and the simple fact is, the Colonial Defender IS a real ship, only it's name is in doubt. That shot you're looking at is a SCREENSHOT from Lay down your burdens. So the information will not be deleted, only made more ambiguous if you wish. - 130.130.37.6 02:14, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
All we have at the moment is the word of the professional artist who designed it, even if his professional portfolio isn't enough to keep the name, it's entry cannot be deleted or ignored. The ship undeniably exists. - 130.130.37.6 02:22, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes I can see the ship is from the show - I remember seeing it. But like I said, since the name is not mentioned in the show and no other official sources list it, we must assume for purposes of this list that the information provided is not valid. I'm not saying this guy isn't who he claims he is or deny whatever connections he says he has, but there are a lot of BS sites out there with people who claim they are part of something simply for purposes of getting kicks from misleading people or perhaps they live in some fantasy world - (take the amazing Supershadow.com for instance, a guy who claims HE WROTE Star Wars and LET Lucas take all the credit, and there are many people who believe him). Cyberia23 04:56, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Until we can verify the name that Zoic refers to it as, i suggest we keep it as the only known name for the ship. "Colonial Defender", which, even though it's the "fan" name the designer gave for it, it's the only one we have. "Unnamed Colonial Ship" just brings up too many possibilities for arguements. - 59.167.27.225 05:38, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm restoring Colonial Defender in a while, haven't had the chance right now, that idiot MAtthewFenton didnt even bother to read the discussions, it's a legitimate ship, we just dont know it's name. - Count23 00:23, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Who is "MAtthewFenton"? - Please see User_talk:Cyberia23#Colonial_Defender. MatthewFenton (talk  contribs) 00:33, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
That's no excuse for removing the ship. Every single other ship shown or mentioned in BSG is listed here, this one should be too, just because it doesn't have a confirmed name. - 59.167.14.91 05:43, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Has'nt been mentioned. End of. MatthewFenton (talk  contribs) 08:00, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
By your logic, the Celestra, Botanical Cruiser and Space Park shouldn't be mentioned either. And YOU dont descide when a discussion is finished, unless you conceed your point. - 59.167.14.91 00:32, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Good thing you aren't one. - 59.167.14.91 08:46, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Either way the name "Colonial Defender" is highly disputable.. so be serious here and forget it ;-) Deus (talk  contribs) 08:48, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
I know the name is disputable, but the fact is, i've just watched the entire first season throughout, and the Colonial Defender type appears more then just the 2 times you see in the final series, all the way back to "33". So it's enough to warrant being mentioned here. - 59.167.14.91 08:50, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

59.167.14.91 I suggest you just get over it. I don't want this page ending up on Wikipedia:Lamest edit wars which is where this is headed. None of us are saying you are wrong or right. You just have to know that Wikipedia can only have verifiable content from an official sources. The artist's website is not an official source. Ships like Space Park and Celestra (the later actually being from an episode of the original series) are featured on SciFi.com/Battlestar - which is the official homepage of the series. If the Colonial Defender appeared there, we'd have it on the list. Inclusion of data from 3rd party websites is merely speculative or someone's original research, or completely made up. Maybe you should just wait - you might get your wish with your Colonial Defender saving the day in an upcoming episode, then by all means it will be mentioned in the list. Until then, she's just eyecandy. Cyberia23 22:24, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

I think someone claimed the "Defender" first appeared in the scenes orbiting New Caprica. After watching the first season DVD I first noticed this ship in the fleet in the first season episode "Flesh and Bone". If you watch the scene where they send a Raptor to board the Gemenon Traveler - the "Defender" can be seen in the background. I'm pretty sure it's the same ship. Cyberia23 23:04, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] rewriting needed

By in-universe, I'm saying that it talks in terms of events within the series, rather than referring to the episode in which the event occurred. As someone who doesn't watch the show regularly, I don't have the extensive base of knowledge necessary to know what they're referring to, but if it tells me which episode such and such a thing occurred in, I can look at that article in wikipedia for context. The Olympic Carrier is a perfect example. Its battlestar wiki article cites the episodes for events. It's still a bit more in-universe, but it tells me in a way that's relevant to someone who isn't immersed in the series. Night Gyr (talk/Oy) 17:34, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Majathaul, prometheus and rising star are good ones, but the others need work. Night Gyr (talk/Oy) 17:37, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
You may not of taken the time to (I've seen you do this at least 20 times now) to read the article fully and look at the history - If you had you will notice it is going through extensive editing and that it is being reworked; and it is hardly written "in-universe" at all. Matthew Fenton (talk  contribs) 17:57, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Matt - I understand what Night Gyr is talking about, and yeah I can see how some references are confusing, and it's something that needs to be worked on. Hopefully we can fix this soon - but Night Gyr - note by deleting stuff (and saying it's a joke) is not how to fix things. Instead it ticks people off and you draw negative attention and start arguments and editwars in doing so. I'm already dealing with pressure from a deletion-happy power-tripping admin about proper references and making sure comments are cited - I started this article and I'm trying to keep it clean and pretty with factual statements but I'm only knowledgeable on a few areas of the show in particular and I'm trying to make things as accurate as possible. It takes time because I do have a life outside of Wikipedia and it's really irritating when someone starts scrutinizing articles I've worked on. Instead, you can be more helpful by being more constructive. If a something looks out of place, or accuracy is suspicious then do some research on it yourself and fix it or ask a question here and someone who knows more about can do it. Deleting things at random and slap tags down just pisses people off. Cyberia23 23:25, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Touché. Matthew Fenton (talk  contribs) 23:28, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
I deleted it because it seemed extremely silly (talking about the colorfully decorated ships) and had no reference for me to go and check whether such a thing actually existed. Sorry for being a bit rough, but I just had no idea where to start to even verify such a thing. I'm not an expert on the show, and articles here aren't for people who are already know everything in it, so everyone else needs a place where they can look to see whether or not it's true. If I wrote something that sounded outlandish and didn't provide a source I'd expect to see it scrutinized, since that's what wiki does. I didn't mean to impugn anything on any editor personally, just trying to get the best text possible. Night Gyr (talk/Oy) 16:27, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
I understand your point but I don't see how saying they're different colors made it sound silly to begin with - the ships mimic Earth ocean transport ships of real life. Ever see an ocean transport ship coming into port with all those colorful containers? Here's an example. Cyberia23 05:36, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
I get it now, I looked it up. I think it was the context of whatever I had been reading before. I saw brightly colored and thought clowny. Night Gyr (talk/Oy) 06:51, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
I went ahead and added a picture of the transport for reference. Cyberia23 09:00, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stealth Star or Stealthstar

Some anon user says the DRADIS displayed it as "Stealth Star" (two words) - I distinctly remember it saying simply "S-STAR" myself - and given that Battlestar and Basestar are connected I assumed Stealthstar would be as well. What are "official" sources listing it as? Battlestar Wiki says Stealth Star - but they're not official. Cyberia23 20:41, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Basestar, Battlestar.. Definitely Stealthstar for me until it is confirmed as a "Stealth Star" MatthewFenton (talk  contribs  count  email) 20:46, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
I'd assume they'd keep it uniform as well. Makes sense. Cyberia23 20:55, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Yep.. makes sense :-) MatthewFenton (talk  contribs  count  email) 20:57, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Why remove the information about the ship's shape? It was obviously the Blackbird model with a few colour changes - 59.167.6.38 22:50, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Obviously is another word for speculation.. while it may be obvious we can't speculate.. MatthewFenton (talk  contribs  count  email) 22:51, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Matt do you have screenshots of the Blackbird and Stealthstar? I'm not using them to argue that they looked similar or different, I just think we should have images of them to go with the articles. Cyberia23 23:03, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Don't have the Blackbird on me (*sobs*), however our trusty friends at BSWiki have a decent cap here and theres a Stealthstar here - noticeabley the "window/cover thingy?" is different - the Stealthstar looks like it has a smoother hull to me as well. MatthewFenton (talk  contribs  count  email) 23:10, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
The Stealthstar kinda looks like the alternate design for the original series Viper... (of which they built props) 132.205.44.134 00:15, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
The Stealthstar makes use of the Mark VII cockpit. In so far as we've been able to determine, no actual mockup was ever built, merely the CG model. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loudWP:PORN BIO? 19:24, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
The Stealth Star was identified on DRADIS as "S-STAR". As for the question of spelling, I've posed the question to Bradley Thompson on Battlestar Wiki here. We'll see what comes of it. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loudWP:PORN BIO? 19:24, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Yea, just saw; I replied a few seconds after you posted it hehe, hopefully he can clarify :-) thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 19:28, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
It's Stealthstar, per official answer. Future readers, note the question will ultimately be moved to an archive, likely at [1]. --CalculatinAvatar(C-T) 04:29, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Good good :-) thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 09:47, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Demetrius image?

The Demetrius section should probably be expanded since it's become one of the more prominent ships around (Galactica, Colonial One, Demetrius, for season 4) 70.51.9.170 (talk)

[edit] omgsplosion

Very little of this article is no more than plot exposition with some personal observations and drawn conclusions thrown in for good measure. A few of these may warrant inclusion, but the majority should simply be noted as appearing in their pertinent episodes and linked there.

For example, looking at the Olympic Carrier: (a) some of the information which isn't present in the episode has no reliable sourcing, (b) the rest of the information is simply plot already suitably present at 33 (Battlestar Galactica). This entry can be reduced to:

The Olympic Carrier was a civilian passenger liner destroyed due to possible Cylon collusion and attack in the first season episode, "33".

The floor is open. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 18:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Convert to list of ships

This article should be List of ships in Battlestar Galactica (2004), so that all ships will be listed, as almost all are listed right now anyways. If Galactica is added with a short paragraph and a {{main}} link at its head, it'd make a better list article. 70.51.9.170 (talk) 09:05, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] split Demetrius

As the star of half a season, Demetrius should be split off. 70.55.202.181 (talk) 00:33, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Are there any available reliable, secondary sources for which to write such a split article? — pd_THOR | =/\= | 00:38, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

OPPOSE - A.) It's simply worth it, it really didn't do much in itself except carry some characters away from the fleet for a while, and B.) It most likely will be targeted for deletion because most sci-fi related articles are being hit for notability around here. Making it a separate article will just add fuel to the fire. Leave it in the list and that's good enough. The Resurrection Ship had it's own article and it was far more interesting than the Demetrius. It got axed. Cyberia23 (talk) 23:09, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Oppose. There is no content to split off. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 08:18, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Celestra

In the Celestra section, I removed the following text added some time ago by Raymar3d. I'm placing it here in case another editor would like to track down the source and work it into the article. Personally, I'm of the opinion that this is probably superfluous information, but perhaps another editor can prove me wrong and make it encyclopedic.

"Note from the creator of the 3d model: My name is Kenneth Thomson Jr., and I built the ship for Zoic Studios in 3ds Max, which was subsequently exported to Lightwave for use in the miniseries in 2003, and subsequently seen as both the Celestra, and the Striker, in the TV series."

[edit] Zephyr

Is there a reason, in an alphabetical list, Zephyr appears amongst the S's? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.49.205.252 (talk) 01:30, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

I can't see any reason. I've gone ahead and moved it to the end. Thanks for pointing it out! -- smurdah[citation needed] 02:28, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Merge?

I think Cloud 9 (Battlestar Galactica) and Colonial One should be merged here, they're not notable enough on their own.--ZXCVBNM (TALK) 01:57, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] ship types

ship types should be separated from ships, into its own section. 76.66.193.90 (talk) 04:29, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Other Ships (Mentioned Only)

In the episode "Lay Down Your Burdens", many other ships were mentioned that arent included here because they were not explicitly shown. These include: Diomedes, Embla Brokk, Enkidu, Epheme, Galaea, Greenleaf, Hexavarie, Tarbadek, Swordfish, Sargon, Salpica, Monarch, Mutem Wia, Odysseus, Persephone, Picon Princess, Tora Bashiri, Carillian Travellor, Carina, Celesta, Clymene and Cybele. -Timeoin —Preceding unsigned comment added by Timeoin (talkcontribs) 00:55, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
