Accessibility of tables
Hi, I have tried to make the table accessible and to comply with guidelines for not using color alone to convey information. I intend to slowly roll this out to the other tables in articles linked from the navbox at the bottom as well and to remove the emphasis on color. I see there are a number of contributors to this article and others like it and I welcome all of you (and any readers out there) to help make similar changes to this and the other articles so that individuals with visual impairment may not only better read but also contribute to this collaborative project that is Wikipedia. Thank you. [dsprc] [ talk ] 20:17, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
- The color-coding is actually unnecessary as the pending cases should not be included as they violate WP:CRYSTAL. Only verified cases should be included. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 04:20, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- Many of the entries in this and the other articles have other publications such as news media stating their age. The verified appear to be "official" verification by GRG. The pending cases are published by GRG but not yet 100% vetted (I imagine century old documentation is difficult to come by). I'm perfectly fine with editors including information that GRG publishes on their non-verified list, or information presented by news media which isn't GRG approved.
- I agree with the color being unnecessary. But, it is hard enough now just to add these columns and cells w/o editors reverting because of color. I am not interested in edit wars spanning dozens of articles and editors after this boring and tedious work. Let them have color; so long as the visually impaired have text that conveys the exact same information, I don't care. – dsprc [ talk ] 05:05, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
According to the GRG's Table E webpage, Take Matsui is not listed under "Recent Deaths for 2014", but instead is listed under "Unreported Deaths (Known dead; but death date unknown)".
Therefore I think we should remove her from this list.
- This page http://mainichi.jp/area/hiroshima/news/m20140527ddlk34040599000c.html when translated shows that she died on the 19th of May . Rpvt (talk) 22:53, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
That's not the point, this article cites the GRG and therefore is a list of supercentenarians who died in 2014 who are either verified or pending according them. Take Matsui is not listed with a specific date of death because there is apparently some doubt as to the identity of the person in the report.
