Directory suggestion

It looks like you only have top ranking directories listed here. I would like to recommend a specialized directory that promotes green and renewable energy websites. There are over 1,400 quality sites listed in over 140 categories. They also review top sites on the main page. All directory services are provided free of charge.

Online list of web directories

Hi, I would like to add an external link to a list of the more well known web directories - List of web directories on http://www.1websitedesigner.com/directory_submission.htm. The problem is notability. What makes this site more notable than the thousands of others out there? I'm sorry, but unless you can show something historical or very notable about the site no link to it will survive long on this article. --StuffOfInterest 10:57, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Similarly I'd like to recommend my own resource The Web Directory List What makes it notable? Well there are a number of Web Directory Lists out there, but this one doesn't rank sites based on how much they are prepared to pay. It's non-commercial! Plus it also has some cool features like enabling your to browse the list by region and sort the directories by inclusion cost/ PageRank and alphabetically by name and url.

Moreover this is more extensive than the Wikipedia article, allows for more detailed sorting and browsing and finally is very useful to webmaster's looking to promote their site. Its also updated monthly. DavidParkes 01:08, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

As explained at WP:NOT and WP:EL Wikipedia is not a platform for lists of internet links. If the logyourlink.com directory has received sufficient attention to be considered notable by WP standards, it should become the subject of its own article, and that article could be added to this list. The good, the bad and the ugly

Gee, that is difficult. I thought within an article called List of web directories there would be many links to web directories. But there were not. So I thought of adding a link to http://en.1000kataloge.de which at least lists about 1,000 existing web directories. But than I learned that Wikipedia were not about links - which is true but as well it should not be about "without links" as links are the main idea of the internet and an important way to further information. Defunct directories on the list

Aboutus.org mentioned on the list of web directories is no longer a directory.

Why is www.ansearch.com listed here? Compare its list of newspapers http://www.ansearch.com/Media/Newspapers with the list of newspapers on http://www.findouter.com/NorthAmerica/USA/News-and-Media/Newspapers

The latter list is clearly ranked according to importance besides having addresses and phone numbers.

Or compare http://www.joeant.com/DIR/cat/1259/Hospitals with http://www.findouter.com/NorthAmerica/USA/Health/Hospitals
