Cervantes[edit]

Does the Lothario character in Cervantes have anything to do with the idea of a lothario? If not, I'm not sure he belongs in this article. Nareek 20:10, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What!?! Of course he belongs, one way or another! Paul Beardsell (talk) 10:52, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, he does. in Don Quixote, Lothario is a character who is convinced by a husband to seduce his wife to test her honour. It alludes to seduction for a false purpose.

Hairy?[edit]

Is a lothario generally understood to be hairy? I've heard it used three times, once in the game The Hand of Fate where it was a Yeti, once in a PSA about Cryptosporidium where it was an extremely hairy guy at the pool, and once in Series of Unfortunate Events where Olaf calls a mannequin a "hairless Lothario".161.28.164.104 (talk) 20:37, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A Lothario is supposed to be a suave man-about-town seducer according to whatever standards prevail in the cultural milieu in which he operates... AnonMoos (talk) 01:55, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

wrong way around[edit]

The first and main entry is about a character in a play written 100 years after the character in Don Quixote. Yet the Quixote character is written as a subsidiary afterthought. Paul Beardsell (talk) 10:52, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Paul Beardsell (talk) 10:56, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cymbeline?[edit]

I don't quite get the connection with Cymbeline, if there is no Lothario in it... --gsoundsgood (talk) 17:39, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Other Frank's Song[edit]

Sinatra also mentions Lothario in his song titled 'I Guess I'll Have To Change My Plan'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.76.233.253 (talk) 08:38, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wilhelm Meister's apprenticeship and travels[edit]

Due to the invention of the name Lothario as being, "in the English culture", as detailed in this main article; is Lothario the Nation State of England after The Restoration and it's marriage to Theresa it's sensible oeconomicus banking system and post Samuel Pepys promotions due to merit over nepotism as promoted by the Hanoverians, whilst the August monarchy of France , as Augustine, addicted to its own nearly suicidal state literally slits its own throat in the diamond necklace affair that causes the bed, the state, their Augustnesses lie in to flow red whilst they sleep in their bucolic dream state? As Wilhelm Meister is such an influential work, should this not be mentioned in regards to this Lothario article and regarding the diamond necklace affair , Cagliostro, Goethe and the Egyptian Rites of Freemasonry? 2A00:23C6:8811:A401:65B8:D190:639:2D8E (talk) 10:06, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
