Please take out the reference to the Rio Grande Valley. It's misleading to people not already familiar with Texas geography and the vast area the state covers. The Valley region of Texas is 500 to 700 miles away. Lufkin is not a gateway thereunto. Lufkin's proximity to Houston, Dallas, and Austin makes a more meaningful read. Lufkin is on the Gulf Coastal Plain and shares geography with Louisiana's Bayou Country more than with the better-known and commonly held images of West Texas.
