merging issue[edit]

Hi,

How come you merged the Gallery and the Center? They are two different organizations and two different legal entities, two different type of activities. So please undo the latest changes and get back the two articles instead of one as the gallery is not equal with the Center. Lepikhova (talk) 10:33, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Lepikhova[reply]

Sorry if I made a mistake. However, I'd like to get some things clear before self reverting. To start with: Do these share the same domain name (lumiere.ru)? If they do, then how can they be two different legal entities? -- Hoary (talk) 10:38, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

They do share the domain (there is actually a section of the gallery on the Center's website), because they share the dedication to the Lumiere Brothers and the board members, but not activities, that is why they are different legal entities. Dear Hoary, could you get back the two articles just the way they were before February 2014, if you say you admit your mistake. I would really appreciate it. Lepikhova (talk) 12:29, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Lepikhova[reply]

I'm not at all sure that it was a mistake; but anyway, I've reverted.
The articles need a lot of attention; I hope that you will assist in this. -- Hoary (talk) 13:07, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, and thank you for reverting. I wonder now how come you added low-importance label to the article as obviously it should be at least mid-importance as it's not just "covering a specific part of a notable article" and it is "notable within its particular field and has achieved notability in a particular place or area." And also: "topics which may seem obscure to a Western audience—but which are of high notability in other places—should still be highly rated." Sorry for quoting that much but what kind of data you need to reconsider importance of this article? Thanks again, for your time and attention. Lepikhova (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Lepikhova[reply]

When you talk of my adding a low-importance label, I think you're referring to this edit of mine, in which I reverted the "commenting out" of the statement made by User:Greyhood (in 2011) on behalf of "WikiProject Russia" that "This article has been rated as Low-importance on the project's importance scale." Greyhood hasn't made any edits to Wikipedia for half a year, so there's no point asking him/her about the evaluation; but you can ask about it at the talk page for WikiProject Russia.
I'm little interested in these evaluations of "importance": I very seldom add them, remove them, change them or even question them. But if I did want to demonstrate the importance of this Center for Photography, I'd start by adding references to the material in it. As it is, the article is virtually unreferenced; this leads to the suspicion that even if its content is entirely factual, the rest of the world isn't much interested in the Center.
If there's little material available in English, this is hardly surprising. And it doesn't matter, because the sources may be in German, Finnish, Swedish ... or of course Russian. -- Hoary (talk) 22:47, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Hoary, could you kindly help me to reconnect this page with the correct russian one: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A6%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%82%D1%80_%D1%84%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%B3%D1%80%D0%B0%D1%84%D0%B8%D0%B8_%D0%B8%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8_%D0%B1%D1%80%D0%B0%D1%82%D1%8C%D0%B5%D0%B2_%D0%9B%D1%8E%D0%BC%D1%8C%D0%B5%D1%80 as now the english page about the center is connected with russian page about the gallery.
