Usage of 论[edit]

The article says that there is some commonality between the character 论 as it appears in 论衡 and as in 论语. This is incorrect, as the two are pronounced differently and have distinct meanings: the former is fourth tone and means "discussion, discourse", the latter is second tone and means something probably closer to "collect, bring together" (cf. the Greek root of the English term "analect", which is "to gather up/together". This goes well with the likely meaning of 语 in this context, which is probably something closer to "teaching" or "lesson" than "saying"; there's a good discussion of this meaning of 语 in the beginning of the 国语集解 if anyone wants to look at my source on this). Based on my understanding of the meaning of the character, I am removing this line. Mrmyway (talk) 05:36, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
