How did she begin her education in Ponca City when she moved there at age 16? Something doesn't add up.71.115.89.70 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:38, 19 December 2010 (UTC).[reply]

I just undid your edit at Lydie Marland[edit]

because (opinion) her real parents' names should remain and your opener, "was known as an American socialite in Ponca City, Oklahoma." hardly makes sense to me. However I recognize that you are an experienced editor and probably can make the article much better. I just got confused by the beginning and then all the other changes sort of rattled me. So let's start agian. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 23:55, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

While I respect your opinion, it's too bad that you didn't just adjust the Lede, as your action will require a lot of extra editing work. While I debated including Lydie's natural parents' names there and agree with you, I disagree about including her grandparents' names, which are often never included in main articles, much less in the Lede. Let's use the article Talk page for further discussions if necessary. Parkwells (talk) 16:37, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about setting you back so far. How about we just undo my undo - which will bring back all your other edits, then change the lede? When I see a very complicated edit, and yours was that, and if the first thing or two seems to me to be not good ideas I tend to undo the whole thing. I understand why, with edits such as yours this is not a good idea. Carptrash (talk) 16:53, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Should have checked the history and consulted with you; just got carried away copy editing. Such a story! Parkwells (talk) 19:01, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Editing[edit]

Entered a newer version, more concise, with standard headers, but also with content in the Lede to cover all of Lydie's life. (Sometimes rewriting is useful.) Feel free to edit as you wish; it would be useful if you could add cites from more sources than the website on the houses - but even those should be added so that assertions have some basis. Maybe find some of those national newspapers? Possible sources: since the Estate is a National Historic Landmark, there should be a nomination online at the state or National Park Service giving background on the house and family.
