Theft of the Mosaics and Surrounding Controversy[edit]

This article is about the village and its main monument. The theft the mosaics and their passage to an art dealer in Indianapolis, USA, where they were found in 1988, merit a carefully documented and separate article. These are important (and disturbing) issues and they need clear and separate treatment. I should say, here, that the German WIKIPEDIA article is an excellent example of how NOT to write an informative entry: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panagia_Kanakaria. It deals with the issues in confused chaotic fashion, and touches on matters peripheral to the site or the church. In particular, mention of Münchner Kunsthändler Aydın Dikmen (and the American dealer Peg Goldberg should she come into it), need to follow the guidelines for persons who may be still living. The article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aydın_Dikmen can be referred to. As far as I am aware, there is no actual evidence that Dikmen was at Lythrangomi, although it is rational (and not a violation of WIKI guidelines) to speculate. Still, we await the facts of the matter. Shirazibustan (talk) 08:28, 8 June 2016 (UTC) Shirazibustan[reply]
