controversial???[edit]

The Television article states: The New Zealand government also funds the controversial Maori Television Service with the aim of putting Maori language and culture on New Zealand television screens

I don't see any reference to its controversy there or here. Is it really controversial and if so, why? --Colin Angus Mackay 21:25, 18 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The sentence you refer to seems to have long ago been edited / moved / deleted. But as a long-term New Zealand resident let me assure any curious readers that there certainly was controversy, and still is in some quarters, despite the Service and its services being now well-established, and also highly praised in media circles. -- Bricaniwi (talk) 02:50, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
