This article needs to be made more authoritative.[edit]

In addition to appropriate citations (e.g., sources for the development of the MBTI Step II), the description of the process is vague. If I had access to authoritative references [I don't], I would flesh out how the experts were chosen who were involved with Isabelle and Peter Myers in the Step II development, and describe what the experts did. What the expert panel did not do, however, was a factor analysis, though they may have agreed on a particular factor analytic method (see next paragraph) to apply to some data. As written the reader has no idea about the nature of the data that was factor analyzed or why a factor analysis is even relevant.

I suspect that some selected--and sufficiently large--number of respondents took the Step II instrument and it was that groups's responses that were subjected to a "factor analysis." In fact, factor analysis refers to a class of statistical data reduction techniques and is not a method per se. While not critical, ideally the article should mention the particular factor analysis technique used to group the Step II items into the 20 facets. At a minimum, the article should cite the authoritative source that mentions the particular factor analytic technique (and relevant parameters, such as the type of rotation) used in the Step II development.Drbb01 (talk) 02:28, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I agree articles should be merged. Same stuff, same people. --2001:14BA:980E:7700:0:0:0:8EA (talk) 19:34, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
