Merge with Windows Live[edit]

No, because it is not part of Windows Live services anymore. It has been renamed Soapbox on MSN Video. However the "search" part of the original "Windows Live Video" plan by Microsoft is still part of Windows Live. Confusing Microsoft brandings. Pikablu0530 09:18, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split[edit]

I think this article should be split into MSN Soapbox and Windows Live Search Video, with this article being a redirect to the latter. --soum (0_o) 06:49, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Windows Live Search logo.png[edit]

The image Image:Windows Live Search logo.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Bing Videos vs. Bing Video[edit]

I already moved the page once, but it was reverted. Now, the word "Videos" is used by itself several times on the Bing web site, but that is not the issue. The official name of the service seems to be "Bing Video", singular. Not only is this displayed prominently as the title of the page (at the top of your web browser), it is also called "Bing Video" in the official Microsoft press kit. Unless someone can present more reliable sources than Microsoft and the home page itself, this article should be moved to "Bing Video". tktktk (talk) 18:09, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but the official press kit never mentioned "Bing Video" as a product name. On the press kit link you presented, the only part that reads "Bing Video" is the part where it displayed all the promotional videos related to Bing's launch, and that does not refer to the product name itself. As I mentioned in my revert comments, the title of the page appears to be a typo. Here's where "Bing Videos" appear to have the plural "s":

  • The official link http://www.bing.com/videos
  • Bing homepage http://www.bing.com , on the left "Explore" section it reads "Videos"
  • The header navigation of all Bing pages, where it reads "Web Images Videos Shopping..."
  • Clicking "More" on the Bing header navigation http://www.bing.com/explore , where it reads "Videos"
  • The Bing Videos page itself http://www.bing.com/videos , occuring twice: (1) on the left "Explore Pane" where the first item is "VIDEOS", and (2) on the main content of the page, above the title that reads Featured TV shows, it reads "Videos"

All these sources are from the official Bing website itself and thus are reliable. --Pikablu0530 (talk) 01:00, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While I still disagree that the word "Videos" on its own is necessarily indicative of the official product name, I did some more searching and found evidence for both Bing Video and Bing Videos, so I suppose I'll defer to the status quo for now. I have to say, though, Microsoft is surprisingly inconsistent on this issue. tktktk (talk) 02:52, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
