Merger[edit]

I suggest that the information from MTL (train operator) should be merged into MTL (transport company). This is becuase both franchises already have their own information pages, and an entirely seperate article is not needed to summarise these. There is only a small amount of relevant information, therefore it would be better for it to be placed here. Jorvik 17:56, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The result was merge MTL (train operator) into this article. Jorvik 19:39, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split proposed[edit]

The result of this discussion was to split, per WP:SILENT. Hullian111 (talk) 17:37, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that the section of MTL's bus operations be split into a separate page called Merseybus. To put it simply, this article is too damn big for it's own good, and the format of the section dividing operators/operations under subheaders is really only serving to squander historical information being chronologically added about Merseybus from deregulation to eventual Arriva acquisition.

What I propose is to split the subsections 'Merseybus', 'Merseymaid', 'Merseymini' and 'Lancashire Travel' into the new article, as they are most relevant to Merseybus before the creation of MTL Trust Holdings, and maintain the other sections under the MTL article. Feedback is welcome on if more or less of the article should be split.

A lot of this article dates back to long-winded IP edits from 2006 or 2007, which carry no sources at all. Besides a split making the article less long, I reckon it would allow for the tons of writing in each section to be critically assessed and either cited or removed for lack of sourcing. Probably a good idea. Presumably you would leave a brief resume on the main page, similar to the sections on MTL London and Manchester. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 20:41, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, absolutely, especially for how important Merseybus is to MTL's founding. Hullian111 (talk) 20:42, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I'm concerned, (I only took some pictures), go for it. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 20:46, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
