Altruistic trait[edit]

What, pray tell, is an "altruistic trait" as opposed to a virtue? And what, while we're at it, is meant by saying "It can be viewed as a virtue"? Goldfritha 23:44, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Definition?[edit]

This seems to be more of a lexicographical definition. While it's nice to see etymology, I have to wonder if it can't be revised somehow to avoid a proposal to transwiki this entry to, say, the Wiktionary. Just saying. —MicahBrwn (talk) 22:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

etymology vs coining[edit]

how could a word derived from latin roots be coined by a greek almost 200 years before latin existed. it would seem that aristotle coined the concept not the term "magnanimity" itself, which is a term that would have been coined by a greek scholar of the early roman republic. i'm not an expert on this. 98.193.69.129 (talk) 19:07, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
