First, excuse me for my bad englsih. Maieutics apeears in Plato´s Philosophie not in Socratics. Remember that the first Plato´s (¿diálogos? I dont´know how do you say that in english) are Socrates talking throught Plato. In those young ¿diálogos? the maieutics never appears. Maieutics appear after, when is Plato who speacks. The socratic metod is ¿Eléntico?.

[edit] Pronunciation?

If you syllabificate (you separate the word into syllables) you get the trisyllable [ma·ieu·tic]

Using the International Phonetic Alphabet the pronunciation of such word is:

\mā-'yü-tik\

This isn't the best way to discuss pronunciation. It should be cleaned up. 24.59.83.3 (talk) 02:44, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] References/Citations?

I suggest that this article needs labels warning about the lack of references or citations. Some of the assertions appear questionable and need support.

For example: "The first text of the Plato dialogues in chronological order to link Maieutics to Socrates is Symposium." But the chronology of Plato's dialogues is a matter of longstanding controversy, and there are numerous suggested sequences, as the Wikipedia article on Plato makes clear.

"This method is an evolution of the technical methods of Orphism." This statement implies that detailed knowledge of Orphic practices and methods exists. If so, it would be very helpful to know where it can be found. The Wikipedia article on Orphism suggests (properly, in my opinion) that our knowledge about this subject is in fact quite limited.

"In philosophy the concept of Maieutics is mistakenly linked to the historic [sic] Socrates." By whom? And is it really so certain that it's a mistake? Axiothea (talk) 16:48, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Better late than never, I've removed and/or tagged the WP:OR/article as you've suggested.—Machine Elf 1735 08:19, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
