Surely El Progreso, not "El Progresso"? -- Jmabel 07:27, Jun 11, 2004 (UTC)

Agree, and fixed. Demf 14:09, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Puerto Rican parents?[edit]

Good question. Fernández wrote the lyrics: "La tierra de Borinquen/donde he nacido yo" ("The land of Borinquen where I was born"), but was actually born in Spain. That can be dealt with. However, the article claims here that his parents were born in Puerto Rico. That is perhaps a stretch. Any tangible proof on this? Demf 14:17, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Couldn't find any after Googling and checking more than 30 references. Therefore, the reference to Puerto Rican parents is removed. Demf 14:30, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as stub, and the rating on other projects was brought up to Stub class. BetacommandBot 05:33, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Odd link[edit]

The external link captioned "El Nuevo Dia" leads to a short biography of Nemesio Canales of no obvious relevance to this article. I presume it should be removed and replaced by a relevant link. - Jmabel | Talk 21:03, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"National" anthem?[edit]

Puerto Rico, by a law signed by Gov. Luis Muñoz Marín in 1952, has two official anthems, La Borinqueña and The Star-Spangled Banner. Some consider the former as PR's "national" anthem, others as its "state" anthem and the latter as its "national" anthem. Can't we settle on a more objective, middle-of-the-road "official anthem" (which it is legally). And, please, let's not start the usual "Puerto Rico-is-a-nation" debate. I'm just looking for a middle-of-the-road consensus before editing. Pr4ever (talk) 02:44, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I fully agree with Pr4ever. When it comes to some Puerto Rican related issues, the "middle-of-the-road" is the best way to go. I will make the proper change. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:21, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
