[edit] Etymology
The following sentence was moved from the article:
- Manzhouli literally means "inside Manchuria".
滿洲-里 can technically be interpreted as "Manchuria<-inside" but I think it is just a rough transcription of Russian Маньчжурия. [1] [2] --Nanshu 23:14, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] 里 or 裏
Is it 滿洲里 or 滿洲裏? — Instantnood 18:33, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
- Either way. 满洲里 is how it's actually spelled in simplified characters (which are the standard in PRC), while 滿洲裏 would be the same word written with the "traditional" form of the same characters, as it would be done in Taiwan or Hong Kong (and was done locally, too, until the 1950s or 1960s). -- Vmenkov (talk) 11:12, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
