Marine Expeditionary Unit[edit]

It looks like this article has heavily borrowed from this page.

TRAP deserves it's own page[edit]

USMC Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel ought to have it's own page and not a redirect here. With a good deal of history (Operation Eagle Claw, Scott O'Grady, and recently Operation Odyssey Dawn rescue of F-15E pilot at a minimum there's plenty of subject matter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.116.149.9 (talk) 02:32, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incosistencies with Army comparisons[edit]

The US Army's current modular force combines artillery with armor and infantry in one brigade combat team commanded by a colonel. This is counter to the claim, "...ground combat element combines artillery and light armor at a much lower level than is common in the U.S. Army." The designation MEU and BCT are different, but both are commanded by a colonel, hence the point that "...a level much lower than is common in the U.S. Army" needs clarification.

Also, combat aviation in the U.S. Army resides at division level, under a major general, not theater. Theater would be Corps or higher. ----AGB, SFC, USA

Merger proposal[edit]

I have proposed that we merge the List of Marine Expeditionary Units into a subheader of Marine Expeditionary Unit. The list is so short that it isn't a strong standalone list. However, it would add to the MEU article by adding a bit more depth, as well as some color. bahamut0013 22:17, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Do it when able.--23:23, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Marine Expeditionary UnitMarine expeditionary unit – Please change the name of the article to "Marine expeditionary unit" (not capitalized as the generic term is not a proper name). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOS:CAPS#Military_terms: "[T]he words for types of military unit (army, navy, fleet, company, etc.) do not require capitalization if they do not appear in a proper name." This is a simple move and should not be controversial, as it clearly complies with Wikipedia and universal standards of capitalization; therefore, I tried to be bold and make the move without discussion, per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Movenotice. However, I got an error message saying that a page by the new name already existed, which is not true. A secondary consideration is whether the first word should be capitalized when the name of the page appears in the middle of a sentence. Universal standards of capitalization for English and Wikipedia standards direct that "marine" not be capitalized, even though U. S. Marine Corps-specific (as well with other services, like the Navy) style guidelines call for capitalizing "marine" always. Thank you. Holy (talk) 06:59, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Too complicated.[edit]

I suggest some smart person, not me, edit this article for your little middle-school sister or brother to read. GeorgeLouis (talk) 03:48, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
