Zubrin did not *show* that the cost per kilogram is lower for bigger systems today. He simply said "It is a well-known feature of launch-vehicle economics that larger boosters are more economic than smaller boosters." This is only an unsupported opinion and it is not, contrary to Zubrin's assertions, an established fact. For example this paper finds that smaller rockets are cheaper per kilogram.
