Mismatch between the Martini-Enfield time in service and the .303 British?[edit]

If the .303 British only came in service in Dec 1888 (per its own page), why are the Martini-Enfield considered in service from 1878 "for use with the newly introduced .303 British cartridge"? The ten-year difference in reverse seems incredibly unlikely to happen in real life.
