M39[edit]

How is that "a 30mm version was developed into the MG 213C or MK 213, and it was this that led to the ADEN, DEFA and M39 cannon"? The ADEN and DEFA are 30mm guns. The M39 is a 20mm gun, just like the MG 213. So unless there was some significant difference between the 20mm MG 213 and the 30mm MG 213C that was incorporated into the later guns, I don't see how the larger 30mm version "led to" the 20mm M39 cannon. I'd say that the plain MG 213 led to the ADEN, DEFA, M39 AND the MG213C. That would be how I saw it.

Also surprised there is no mention of the ShVAK and ShKAS on here. It would be surprising if they didn't have at least some bearing on the Germans inspiration to try out a revolver cannon of their own..45Colt 21:04, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The ShVAk and ShKAS are not revolver cannons. They have a rotating feed system, but otherwise are conventional automatic weapons. The idea behind revolver cannons is very different.

My dad worked on the team which reverse engineered the Mauser MG 213 Guns into the M39 the ones they got to work from were found in a burned out box car or as is called in Europe a Goods Wagon. He was at the Armour Research Foundation of Illinois Institute of Technology as an Apprentice machinist after WW II. They also worked on the 57mm Boosted Rocket gun for the F-89 Scorpion which lost out in testing to the FFAR 2.75inch rocket which was called the Might Mouse. Scorpion, F-86D and F-94C carried them in their first form. There might be info on the Box Car and what was in it in some of the Declassified notes being dug out of the archives now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.178.255.229 (talk) 06:37, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The revolver cannon was new as it was developed into the MG 213 C. It birthed ever major developer in the western hemisphere. If you have any documentation on your dad's work I'd love to see it! I mean I would really love it! I've been stumbling around trying to find anything that wasn't OR!!!Tirronan (talk) 02:37, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
